Hoye was on the beeb but it got little advertising and was shown late at night. Johnson 1 & 2 were on also on the BBC but again they were shown late in the evening and were not advertised well.

The third Johnson fight was promoted by Sports Network (Hobson lost the purse bids) and was shown on ITV as Warren had a deal with them at the time.

He doesn't really seem that bothered by fame to me. Always seems a bit awkward in public appearances and just wants to go out and get the job done. He'll be set for life at the end of his career I would imagine, so fair play to him.

Betting on a Woods decision this weekend I think.

Well Clinton himself has said that he never regarded himself as a talented fighter and it's almost by accident that he's a world champ and has become more professional with time. It's a great fight at a great time against Tarver for him. Tarver is a big name who was never half as good as his pubilicty suggested and is now washed up as well. Ideal for setting up a fight with Calzaghe

Well from the various boxing sites and sports sites I'm reading right now Calz-Woods is already verbally agreed for the Millennium Stadium in October. Of course that's providing the next 2 weeks go well for them both. Would seem to support claims that Woods-Calzaghe was similarly agreed to happen right now before the BHop-Calzaghe rumpus at the Hatton fight sealed the deal for that fight to happen instead

Yep I suppose if the next fight after BHop is at lightheavy for Calz then the supermiddle belts are going to have start getting dropped. Personally, i think all this talk of Calzaghe retiring is bull****. I think he's willing to wait for Pavlik to jump up in weight for his grand finale. Just been to setanta's site and Clinton is all for a fight with RJJ so who knows what could happen. Whatever, there's some good fights out there for both of them

Its a shame that blue collar guys like Clinton, who have come up the hard way in boxing get over looked for hype jobs like Khan and boxers from Fwank Warrens stable.

I met Clinton Woods on a night out in Sheffield and he was a down to earth guy.:good

good call...almost forgot this was one. two decent lhw championship fights on the same bill and maybe even worthy or recording.

if woods and calzaghe both win their fights, i'd love them to fight each other next just to give woods the payday he deserves. joe can fight pavlik after. i don't want to see joe - rjj, and joe - dawson is unlikely imo.

You've got to love Clinton. He's a great honest pro and gives his all in his fights. Those three wars with Johnson have defined his career... tough fights. He's not the most naturally gifted athlete of all but by 'eck he makes the most of what he's got. I'd love it if he smashed Tarver to pieces... Love it. I don't like Tarver at all. I wouldn't begrudge Woods a fight with Calzaghe, he deserves a massive payday and has the power to stun Joe if he can land. I'd much rather see Calzaghe-Woods than anyone else at the LHW division.

Woods will win, but as I said here a while back hes going to struggle to get the decision. Wouldnt surprise me though to see Woods finish Tarver inside the distance & take it out of the judges hands.

im hoping Clinton smashes him into the middle of next week. Tarver has a solid chin and i dont think Clinton has the power to take him out tho still anything can happen so im hoping for a clinton KO as Tarver is close to being shot at the top level

Clinton is a great guy and does Yorkshire proud. The bloke is my favorite fighter so I really hope he puts in a good performance and comes away with the win. The fight will be hard, I can see Tarver returing to the form that brought him his success so who ever wins will no doubt deserve.

For me a KO will win the fight and I hope it is Woods that puts Tarver on his arse.

Im really looking forward to this fight...despite some trepidation regarding the result should it go to decision.

It seems clear that the plan from an American perspective is to have a Tarver-Dawson square off in a unification fight later in the year. Which means of course, as we have seen with proposed bouts like these before (DLH-Sturm , Hopkins-Allen with Hopkins - DLH going at it for all the titles later in the year) that the name fighter (DLH) will almost certainly get the decision if there is even the slightest argument for the victory.

Thats my fear. On the plus side however, Woods is certainly capable of winning this and winning it well against the always lazy Tarver. Couple that with the fact that he's looked **** IMO since the third RJJ fight (and the big time Hopkins humiliation HAS ****ed his confidence somewhat no matter what he says in the media) whilst Clinton has steadily improved from 2005 onwards then you certainly have to give Woods a great shot on that basis.

Clinton Woods UD 12 Antonio Tarver (outside of dodgy decisions of course)

According to Setanta Sports, Danny Williams is also fighting on the undercard of the Clinton Woods bill.

Apparently he is set to face Al 'Ice' Cole (former IBF Cruiserweight Champ).
