Daniel Santos according to a certain confidential site. If this happens, I think we may end up with a more competitive bout than the original match up.

Greene had to pull out due to a kidney stone btw.

Is this certain 100% and is Santos for sure?Any chance Martinez doesn't get to fight?

Ishe basically made his availability known upon hearing the possibility of Greene pulling out. Not sure if he's ever been considered.

The article didn't go into great detail. It just said that Greene was out due to kidney stones, and that Santos may be the replacment. So no, it's not exactly 100% certain.

That sucks for Green I thought I would finally see what he was really made of against a guy like Martinez.

A really doubt Santos would take this on such short notice. But it would be great if he did.

That's a hell of a step up by any measure, let alone for a late replacement

    Looks like you were right...

With Greene out of the fight, DiBella and HBO are looking at other options.

Their first choice was titleholder Daniel Santos, whose promoter, Don King, agreed to a deal for a fight that would have been a nontitle bout over the 154-pound division limit. However, Santos turned the fight down, feeling he wouldn't have enough time to be ready on 10 days' notice, DiBella said.

The two other names in play are Philadelphia's Anthony Thompson (23-3, 17 KOs) and former titleholder Travis Simms (26-1, 19 KOs).

    ----------------------

Too bad. Neither one of those opponents interest as much as Greene or Santos.

Well the other 2 opponents will make for a nice showcase of Martinez but sadly for him he doesn't have time for these things.

Sorry but no one is having a showcase against Travis Simms. And Thompson isn't a pushover either.

Thompson~?? I hope Simms takes the fight.... Martinez looked great in his last outing and 154 really needs that 1 guy that can stand out in the crowd..... And he's become one of my favorites to watch.. But Thompson is a good dude and a good boxer so it would be hard to root for one over the other...

Thompson and Simms are better boxers than Buenema.... So don't sleep on either one... And Thompson might have the handspeed to match Martinez....

What a shitty pair of fights.

Two mismatches. Martinez will easily outbox the substitute opponent and Berto will have no trouble defeating Collazo.
