Apparently Kevin Johnson feels he did well on Saturday night...

Agreed...Arreola came to fight. Johnson came to collect a check. I can't believe I thought he was going to do something. It will be a cold day in hell when has a title.

It looks like a poor attempt to justify his dull performance.

He does have a defensive style similar to Toney and Mayweather. Lots of of shoulder rolling old school defensive maneuvers he uses, and it's clear that the man is talented otherwise he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did while giving Vitali problems.

Thing is he lacks any real desire to compete... and that's the main problem with the entire heavyweight division as a whole. We have a bunch of big fighters, some talented, some not, but none of them with the heart and dedication to be a champion. It's disgracefull really.

Safety Pin is what is wrong with the HW division not Vitali. He worked his ass off in that fight and Safety Pin chose to lean on the ropes and throw nothing back. He should be ashamed of himself - making excuses adds salt to the wound - he should shut up.

Vitali did look sloppy (I rewatched the Arreola fight - and Vitali was very very active and gradually broke him down - but his style looks odd/sloppy)

Interestingly the HBO guys (Lennox) said that Vitali looked like he was carrying some kind of shoulder injury as his shots didnt have the usual snap on them. Still thats all speculation.

Larry Merchant said it best that Safety Pin was there to raise his profile - he wasnt given much of a chance but if he went in with a warriors attitude and went out on his shield he would have earned some respect despite the loss. He tried to survive the 12 rounds and looked poor especially considering he may not get a shot like that again. His stock just took a nosedive!

I actually do see slick skills in Johnson, his form in pretty good and like people have said his style does echo Mayweather, Toney etc. (I'm not suggesting he's in the same category at all).

What I'm saying is that I think Saturday night was a real shame and Johnson will regret this so badly when he looks back on his career. This is most likely the only chance he'll ever get and he didn't really give it a shot at winning the fight.

This is why you have to respect what Danny Williams did against Vitali, Danny realistically had less of a chance than Johnson and surely he can look back on that fight with no regrets and he came back to the UK to recapture the domestic crown.

Johnson has some serious rebuilding to do just to make people care about his career, let alone looking for another shot.

I think he knows what happen on Saturday and I think that sadly for him that night will define his career

Kevin Johnson, you suck and so does Friday Night Fights. Thats where you belong!

Johnson couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag, and he was talking about destroying Vitali. What a clown.

To be fair he down better then anyone on here said, i seem to recall everyone nearly saying vit would KO him rather quickly, yeah he was awful, but he went the full route, better then most who take the guy on did, but any way i forgot everyone on here are full on boxing masters who would im sure run rings round vitali and wlad, or of course would go right at them and do a rocky on them, funny though that as soon as anyone steps in the ring with the bros that never occurs, i wonder why ?

I fail to see how losing comprehensively and never being in the fight was doing better than anyone predicted. He lost in humiliating fashion without even some rudimentary offence.

As boxing fans were some of the most demanding in any sport. However the only thing I think Johnson did well was not getting knocked out. Unfortunately that meant doing everything else terribly.

Read it again, before the fight, he was gonna get KOed in awesome style, and well that never happened, yes he was shitty, but he got through, for some thats good enough, in years to come the fight will be forgotten, but the result will show he went the full route, how many can say that against a world champion ?

Hearing the bell after the 12th round is already a very great accomplishment for him.

He did do better than I expected by staying on his feet but just totally throwing away his offense didn't make him any fans.

    He's a ***** aswell.

I think the problem is that it looked like Johnson went in at the opening bell already content to lose. It's not like we saw the fight get knocked out of him. Klitschko wasn't landing many major punches, I think it was the worry of what might land which held Johnson back. That's understandable given he was fighting a guy with as many KOs as Vitali but as boxing fans we just expect more.
