I'd say its about as likely as when Harrison was supposed to be fighting Peter. Maloney obviously isn't up to date with the current WBC heavyweight title situation. There are a lot of guys ahead of Danny Williams in the queue to fight Peter.

Can't see it happening but I'd rather see Williams fight Peter over Audley and Skelton.

I agree - it would be better for Danny to get a payday rather than those two clowns, who I really can't stand!

I am sure that Don King has enough influence still over the WBC to ensure that Williams receives a top 15 ranking in due course, should the fight proceed as mooted by little Frank.

Warren won't be happy if this is true! He was certain that Audley or Skelton would get the fight with Peter and if Danny gets it Warren will be really pissed off. Danny deserves another shot and I hope he gets it.

Warren & Maloney are both dreaming. Peter has to face Vitali Klitschko then the winner of Virchis/Gomez. Why Warren & Maloney think their vets can get in on the act I don't know.

If Williams beats John, I'd actually like to see him fight Matt Skelton for a third time. Their first fight was by far the best domestic British heavyweight clash in a long time (probably since Hide-Bentt, if you could Michael as a Brit) while their second fight was at least entertaining (Sugar Matt Skelton!). At the very least, an in-shape Skelton and an in-shape Williams makes for a good fight.

Sugar Matt Skelton was fun (especially that third round, and Duke's stunned "He's old-manning him!") but the last half of that fight was pretty bad. Agreed that the first fight was a good scrap though.

I just think it's time for both Danny and Matt to go for broke with something and give it one last push for the big time, not pootling along fighting domestics and inferior Euro competition.

I mean, seriously...Big John McDermot? Again? Bless 'im, John gives it his all, but that Williams hasn't moved permanently above his level at this stage of his career says it all really.

The idea of Skelton out-boxing anyone was enough to keep me laughing all fight long.

The problem is the "great leap forward": Williams nearly got there with that performance against Platov, but was robbed.

If Williams had come in fit agaist Skelton the 2nd time round, he would have got a world title shot. He blew his chance then, he needs to get in line like everyone else. He and Harrison are just getting title shots because they are from the UK so they can afford to pay bigger purses.

Sam Peter and his guys are looking for an easy defence while the rest of the division pans out so this is not a totally daft comment from Maloney. And so what if he is not currently in the top 15. If the fight looks like it can be pulled off then do not be surprised if Williams suddenly jumps 20-30 places into the top 15.

    Peter by round one destruction.

The problem is Danny isn't even in the top 40 .
Platov is ranked #23 and if Danny wasn't robbed of that win it is concievabble he'd be a few places of 23rd himself and that a win over McDermott(even though unjustly) could push him into the top 15 .

But it's going to take some serious tricks from King to convince the WBC from not ranking Danny to having him top 15 after a win over McDermott .
This win combined with the Airich one will probably get him top 40 though .

Wasn't Khan v Kristjansen dubbed a world title eliminator? All it means is the loser probably won't be getting a title shot in the immediate future.

It was dubbed a title eliminator because it actually it was a title eliminator (WBO).
