Apparently Wladimir is the Undisputed Champ... Question is, Who Killed Vitali?

Well he came out and said he'd never fight wlad so that's good enough for me.

 

WBO didn't even exist and have a champion until 1989 almost a year after Tyson unified the 3 recognised titles.

WBO belt really hasn't until very recently meant anything. An undisputed champion must have all 4 belts or at the very least the 3 major belts, WBC, WBA and IBF and the WBO belt holder being non competitive or already been beaten previously by the unified champion.

So Wlad at the moment won't be undisputed until he wins all the major belts, just like it has always been.

 

I always though undisputed means a fighter holds all the titles.

However, I suppose there is an argument for 3/4 equating to undisputed. If a fighter holds two belts, and his rival holds two, then clearly the division is split 50/50 and therefore you can dispute the dominance of either guy. However, with 3/4 you're holding the majority of titles and the guy with a single title doesn't have much legitimacy in claiming he's the more important champion.

 

But it was still a world championship belt. One which tyson, douglas, holyfield, bowe nor lewis unified with the others.

Again it depends on definition. I don't think there is any dispute that wlad is the champion considering vitali won't fight him.

If an undisputed champ is defined as a man with 4 belts then no he isn't. If it's a man with 3 then yes he is.

Is martinez not an undisputed champion because politics stripped him and taylor?

 

to me its you win all the belts then youre undisputed, 4/4 perfection. It is extremely difficult to accomplish nowadays, so if wlad eventually pulls it off it will be amazing.

Sorry but we all know Vitali is the REAL champion, but like a good big brother, he has allowed Wlad to hold all the belts.

It's a shame, if it was the other way round, we would have seen more entertaining fights with Vitali. He would have really gone after Haye and the fight would have ended in a KO and not no dull UD!

 

This is why I don't come in the general forum nowadays.

He's the man of the division regardless. Holding 3/4 belts and getting the Ring belt still means a whole lot and is very impressive. Yes Vitali may be better in a H2H sense but that does not acknowledge that Wladimir has accomplished more and is the face of the division and has been for years now.

 

Are you being serious? You really think that Wlad could withstand the kind of onslaught that Vitali would bring? Its ok for Wlad to beat people he is physically superior to, but VItali is on the same level. VItali would be able to take Wlads bombs, but in no way could Wlad. He can hide behind his jab but Vitali would hit him sooner or later.

If he was overly cautious with Haye, just imagine what he would be like against a beast like Vitali!

 

Haha yeah let's call vitali the real champion because we'll just assume he could have beaten all the guys wlad did but better.

 

Belts don't mean much nowadays, what does is the opponents you face. Vitali nearly beat one of the best ever HWs in history and in return, Lewis didn't want no part of a rematch. Wlad hasn't faced no where near that calibre of opposition!

Ok, which one of Wlads opponents could realistically beat Vitali? If Vitali ever fought Haye after all the crap he said, he would have KO him on Saturday. Im sure Haye was avoiding Vitali more than Wlad because he thought he had a bigger chance.

 

Haha yeah mate I agree, vitali doesn't need to beat these guys because it's so obvious. Forget that wlad was the one who beat all the beltholders, vitali could have done it just as easy.
