come on Billy. you need to give Appleby credit. for every improvment simpsion has clearly made since joining your gym, Appleby was in his 10th fight and 20 years old when he beat him, so if anyones going to improve in the next year or so it will be him.

In winning the British title he achived more than Limmond and Burns have done on there whole career in 10 fights.

rob, limond got robbed of a decision against khan whos a WORLD class fighter, even though it was a defeat thats better than what pauls done imo.im not saying pauls not a good fighter far from it but he beat a poor john and finished pickering then got stopped by the next live opponent. With regards to improving simpsons doing it, pauls to prove it correct?

Look, at the end of the day in the next round he got smashed to bits. Its Khans worst ever performance, it said more about Khan than it ever did about Limmond.

fair point about simpson. still think Appleby had the most potential and will go furthest of any active scottish fighter

funny that rob,Amir told me in Newcastle that Limond was the hardest fight hes been involved in,yes willie got beat in the next round but if the rules had been applied willie would have been the winner cant you understand that?

ive seen interview where Khans said its his worst performance and that he felt flat in the lead up to the fight.

and Limmond got a gift in the fight with Choi, thats boxing

To be honest I reckon young Appleby was surprised at how hostile the atmosphere was in Belfast. It was the first time he'd experienced anything like it and you could tell it clearly got to him. He was too gung ho in that fight and let his heart rule his head. I can see that being a loss that he will rectify as long as Lindsay doesnt slip too far down the rankings within the next year or two or suffer too many losses. If Simpson goes to Belfast to face him it will be a different matter altogether though coz John has proven he can fight in a hostile enviroment and come through (in fact, he seems to thrive on it)

Simpson v Lindsay later in the year would be a ******* and a few warm up fights for young Paul then put him into the mix. I reckon by the time Paul is 25 though he will have surpassed them both.

quite possible,a few warm ups and a good opponent then would be stephen smith and the winner moving on

The potential fights just now in the fw division are mouth-watering :)

Just off topic for a minute Billy do you still keep in touch with Scott Harrisons people and do you know if he is getting out anytime soon? and how do you reckon he'd fare if he cleaned up his act and returned to the ring?

no i dont keep in touch with peter and scott anymore,i hope scott gets out soon though, only peter and scott will decide if scott will fight again,if he does i can only see him boxing at lightweight or light welter he certainly has the mental strength and had the ability but 5 years out is a very long time.

This is a great debate on te possibility of simpson v appleby but i think paul has to have atleast three bouts before he can be given any chance of contest with john it a 50-50 bout if this is going to happen but if paul trys to get him efore that john wins no problem but i think it a great bout it rates the same as arthur v limond was so i do hope they get it on early next year. billy its a shame your not in contact with peter harrison and scott as i no you where great freinds and i hope scott does get out soon as wish him all the best and as you said billy if he was to return it would be hard for him but i hope he trys
