New Frank Warren deal for South Queensferry fighter Paul Appleby

FORMER British featherweight champion Paul Appleby has signed with Frank Warren - hot on the heels of the promoter's split with Alex Arthur.
The South Queensferry fighter who relinquished his crown to Martin Lindsay 12 months ago, is expected to make his debut for his new boss in May on a Liverpool bill.

But while the 22-year-old is set to relaunch his career, former WBO super-featherweight champion Arthur has decided to seek a fresh start.

The Edinburgh fighter, 31, says Warren no longer seems capable of delivering the title bouts he is looking for. But he added: "There is no animosity on my part.

Frank has done a lot for my career but I have found it hard to motivate myself not knowing when I am next going to fight."
Arthur, who will campaign at lightweight in future, added: "I won't rush into anything. The bottom line is that I need to get my career back on track.

"My priority is to be fighting regularly at a decent level.
I certainly have no desire to become an undercard fighter."

Anyways, ma question is...who do ya see Arthur going with ?

    Hatton ?

if i was arthur i would be tempted to try america for a decent fight against an opponent that would give him a challenge and may be able to push his name over there .he is not getting any younger so he might as well give it a go plus it may help get him motivated

    Agree with this entirely.

He was brought in and as many have been by Warren, kept in the wings and.....for too long.

There were people asking and saying yesterday, why hasnt or wasnt Mitchell made into a local hero ala Hatton given his character and location etc and i agree, why not ?

Then you just have to look at Warren basically having Khan at the time as a reason.

Hopefully not too late for Mitchell ( as much as i want kats to win i will be quite pleased for Mitchell if he wins ) as i see it in some ways similar to Arthur.....eg. Warren always having someone above to invest in heavily..... before said person.

    Khans gone now though.

This leads me to finishing my rant with why i was and wasnt surprised Kev Anderson didnt go with Warren, surely good enough regarding his amatuer pedigree and didnt want to be a pawn perhaps.

I say this from a fans perspective of course, there could be many reasons he didnt.

Gilmour certainly put his effort and time into Anderson, in my opinion, overly.........thrashed him.

Arthur's got to be a bit realistic, he's got to work his way back now. That said, he's been a bit unlucky with injuries but he should never have took the Nigel Wright fight.

I worry for Arthur to be honest. I'm not a medical expert by any means but he had to fight at LWW against Wright because he wasn't allowed to diet because of a blood disorder. Surely this can't be just a temporary thing? I would imagine this would be the kind of thing that will always be with him.

He can't fight at LWW and if he starts trying to cut weight after such an illness its only going to be detrimental to his health.

Totally, i like to think it was desperation before his usual cockyness, **** knows.

I saw a few papers today with his quotes of ex world champ etc and i for one dont see him as ever being one, before that ol chestnut gets mentioned.

One minute i see how he could of been led to a WBO by Warren oh so easily given he was spotlight, then at the same time i see him winking at the cameras when Gomez is bombing him.

Am pretty neutral on the guy in general but he had skills and he got burnt.

Could have made a lot more out of his career. I think its over now. Not active enough, blood problems etc doesnt sound like a fighter with an Indian summer left in his career. Shame because he was a damn good fighter, Gomez took the edge out of him thouh.

Just discussed this with a pal of mine and his comment on Arthur was, "He needs a promoter/manager with TV. I don't see him going far unless Maloney wants him."

Arthur been getting paid good money for years i hear hes got a pretty healthy property portfolio and bank balance and warren the only one who really pays his fighters so i cant see arthur fighting anymore unless like someone says he fights in germany or the USA as stepping for one of there upcoming fighters

i doubt arther would fancy going to the usa and fighting one of there upcuming fighters he'd b a grain of sand in a desert over there!
people often think the usa is the answer i don't think it is for arthur he needs stick with his nxt manager/promoter/trainer if hes thinking about changing and try make sumthing happen as hes on limited time to b top of his game!
