People hate him a lot. I’ve never seen hate towards a boxer more than that towards Amir Khan. It’s been truly revolting and in many cases unwarranted.
Great boxers get knocked out. Lennox Lewis got KO'd a couple of times, Hatton etc.

    Reasons I appreciate -

    1. For the Brits: Good sportsman for Great Britain and captured the nations hearts in a way I won’t forget during Olympics 2004.

    a. He is a patriotic Brit, very proud of being British. Yet rejected by some Brits.

    b. He was the ONLY British boxer in Olympics 2004! The nation rested their hopes on just one 17 year old boy.

    c. He’s also very proud of being a British Asian and to represent the British Asian contingent too (who are one of the very biggest minority populations in Britain), who haven’t had many sports stars - the last being Nasser Hussain. Brits from all backgrounds got to unite and get behind him and it was lovely to see.

He got media recognition because of all this and afterwards because he was officially a Blue Chip Prospect.

    d. He earned the Silver Medal FOR Britain having beat absolute beasts en route to Gold Medal match against one of the TBE's of boxing history.

Professional boxing doesn’t have a monopoly on who is a great boxer. The 2016 Olympics proved this point which saw professional boxers get KTFO left, right and centre by the amateurs. As an amateur, Khan was a Great. Pros is just one arm in boxing. This was his specialist area. Teofilo Stevenson is a Great, Kindelan is a Great, Papp is a Great, Popenchenko is a Great.

    2. His heart and courage in the ring, before and during prime
    a. Gets knocked out and even in paralysis he tries to get up. Also, look at how light the last punch by Garcia that knocked Khan down, yet Khan still was desperate to continue. How can you not respect that? We have had too many quit jobs going on, it’s nice to see someone show inspiring levels of heart and I take strength from the heart in others.

He is just a terminator that doesn’t stop. We may say he lacks humility out of the ring at times, but it takes so much humility to go through what he did.

    b. Who would’ve fought someone who has one of the weakest chins of his era could win 2 (robbed from three) world titles. That's like David Price going on to beat some HW title holders lol. Not bad at all for someone who was dropped by Willie Limond!

    c. Most probably has ADHD and learning abilities so struggles to learn (even harder when you're with Virgil Hunter and have also been trained by limited defence Roach), yet he still tried his hardest to learn as much as he could. If you struggled to learn things, you should know how it feels.

    d. He took on everybody in his prime, even high risk, low reward fighters.

    3. His charitable heart and involvement in good works

    a. He liked money, cars and before he got married, he loved women like all young people do, let alone young sports star millionaires where all of this is more abundant.

However, that’s for his enjoyment. He has done copious amounts of charity work and continues to do so through the Amir Khan Foundation which I donate to, to this day. Take a look at the depth of it http://www.amirkhanfoundation.org/

We are in an era where people are just fighting bum after bum to earn more money for themselves, whilst Khan from the VERY START even when he was taking on all comers, was giving to charity.

    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2...hing-i-want-but-id-rather-do-charity-work-now

    b. Vocal in condemning ISIS and trying to do his bit in helping to prevent this problem - how many will be vocal in condemning the attack by the white van terrorist who wanted to 'kill all muslims' on the innocent muslims at Finsbury Park Mosque just recently?

    Refuting arguments against him:

'He hasn't fought anyone good for years’

    1. He got knocked out by Danny Garcia and joined Virgil Hunter to regroup and learn new ways of understanding boxing - obviously Khan will take on weaker opposition (yet still trumped Kell's opposition at that time by a 10 country miles) to relearn the trade. Virgil may not be suited to training professional boxers at the highest level, he's good for developing young kids into great fighters (long term approach). People were slating Alexander and Algieri, whilst Kell was fighting Bizier, Gavin and Doughnut Dan back to back (I like Kell btw) - how more biased can one get?

    2. Khan is past his prime, so who even cares? You only care because you wanted to see him get knocked out again. When he was in his prime, he took on everyone he could, even high risk, low reward type of fighters. Ever since he got married, he became more unfocussed and when he had his daughter, his determination took a serious dive as he had a family by then. He always wanted to retire at age 28 because he knew he’d be past his best by then because of his style.

    3. You all say he's delusional but it's better to have his mindset than be a complete quitter of a personality. He has to talk himself up and convince himself of value, that is how he gets into the bigger fights and that's how he maintains self confidence.

'He crashed into someone and killed them' - Total BS. He crashed into someone accidentally through speeding at 47mph at a 30mph road, sure. That's bad. But saying Khan killed him is disgusting. He died of gastro-intestinal bleeding TWO YEARS after, and it was UNRELATED. So stop that nonsense. I want you to drive no higher than 70mph. If you drive higher than the speed limit, you are an evil human being then and I wish you nothing but the worst.

'He didn't fight Brook' - Brook was demanding an unwarranted split and hadn’t done anything in the sport of boxing to make it as big of a fight as it could be. Then when he started to gain more clout, Khan was past prime by then. GOOD, I’M GLAD past prime Khan didn't fight him. Brook is probably past his best now too so I would like to see it NOW that there’s a more level playing field.

'He deserted his British roots by wanting to fight for Pakistan at Olympics' -

He is still Pakistani too and it's a part of his roots. He CHOSE Britain rather than Pakistan during the first rodeo. Why can't he go a second time with his roots? I'm not hating on Richardson Hitchins for fighting for Haiti despite being born and brought up in America, are you? No, because he's not Khan.

Also, he details in this video that Pakistan didn’t have the representation and Amir didn’t want to take the dream away from a Brit who was going to the Olympics:

'He got himself some big fights when he didn’t deserve it’

So what? He got himself a fight with Canelo. He brings some money to the table, that’s how professional boxing works. Canelo is the one who accepted the fight. Khan did what he could but didn’t have power at MW and got timed.

I would be an ultimate clown to get a $5m payday like Khan did vs Canelo. You would, too when push came to shove.

The more money Khan gets, the better as far as I’m concerned because he can spend on charity.

‘Amir Khan got into fights' -

Khan doesn’t start on anyone, nor has be fought anyone. Even if he did he has the right to defend himself. Khan has a lot of haters unjustifiably.

Now, Boxers are not perfect, they're not angelic beings, they come from tough backgrounds and are in a blood sport, a hurting business where they had to become tough from a young age. They’re in a sport where you’re getting punched in the head for a living, what are you going to expect?

Some people are laughing at him for saying his hands are weapons -

He’s a three-time world champion who walks around at 180lbs and dominates the first 9 minutes against virtually every single world level opponent. His hands are weapons as far as I’m concerned. https://cdn3.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/2b...orus_asset/file/2542204/Amir_Khan_Speed.0.gif

'He was seen at a strip club, he had skype sessions and loves women'

He got himself a lot of fine ass. Why blame him? He wasn't doing these things whilst married as Faryal has confirmed, and even if he did, how many people cheat? You've probably cheated on your girlfriend, your wife, your ex-wife..even worse, you could be the type of guy who takes back a cheating partner. You think Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard were loyal to their wives? lol.

Faryal even confirming HE DIDN'T CHEAT ON HER:

When you're young, dumb, a sports star and make millions, it's just that extra bit tougher.

    ‘Amir Khan is insufferably annoying’

I agree lol, but I’m not going to have this much hate for someone just because of that. Especially given the heart he has shown in the ring and who he is out of the ring. This alone isn’t enough to hate him - it’s not as if he is at the peak of his powers, has a belt and is holding it hostage like some fighters. He’s already made and is worth over £30m as of 2017.

There’s been a certain hateful group amongst Brits who have hated him from the beginning (they tend to hate all brown people by default), never gave him props for his Olympic run, the first to trash him for being knocked down by Willie Limond, and their voices became louder and louder.

This demographic have always been the scum of society. Now people are mocking him a lot rather than respecting what he actually has achieved. It’s rare for British boxers to do well. This recent cherry picking cereal belt methodology from Matchroom doesn’t count to me as much.

He's only human but the thing I appreciate about him is that he tries. He seems to be a good guy who has run ins with the odd snake who tries to bring him down, in and out of his personal life.

Amir met the family members of victims and also signed many boxing gloves for the children and the response made him feel happy.

"Many of the kids have since tweeted pictures with lovely smiles whilst wearing the gloves. It makes me content being able to provide something positive in such a difficult time."

Dr Majid informed that several of the children have now been discharged, but that some still some remained in care, and spoke of the reaction from the patients... "It was really heartfelt and generous. When the children received the gifts they had the widest smiles on their faces. It was wonderful to see individuals who have been through so much look so happy…”

Your first 5 points or so basically says "because he's British".

I'm starting to think you ARE Amir Khan.

I Don't hate Khan, btw. He's more of a punch line to me. A good laugh. He's got great heart and deserves credit for that but that's it. He's nothing special in boxing. I don't care about his personal life.

Khan's okay, but he's not the good boy that he pretends to be. Dude was cheating on his wife and got busted.

Just because he cheated on his wife doesn't mean everything else is fake.

Great fighter up to 140 lbs. tanked after that. His own ego and lifestyle destroyed him. that and his weak chin.

The problem with Khan is he doesn't help himself... Hes on the front and back pages and not always for the right reasons.

I respect him and I think when you look back on his career when its all said and done he will be celebrated.

But he needs to get active again and win some fights because right now he is looking like the best is behind him but trying to convince everyone otherwise

I appreciate the OP effort. I don't give extra credit for a millionaire giving charity here and there nor do I condemn him for having fun outside marriage and some of his bad behaviour.
I like khan what he does in the ring, and to me he always give 100%. His fights are always fun to watch in winning or losing.

Let's be clear about one thing. Pointing out that Khan has a glass jaw is not "hate," it's FACT. Not "alternative facts," mind you, but actual fact.
