I still see a weakness in his game and that is the ground game. Lesnar or Mir wont wanna stand with him when they fight so expect those guys to take him down. Unless kongo can stop all the takedown against a guy like lesnar then i dont think he can win the title.

Both these guys got their legs twisted up in mma.

Something Kongo did to his opponents. And has never been submitted.

He has proven he can strike in a combat sport of lesser rules.

I'd say he isn't kick boxer but a hell of a Thai Boxer

    • 2005 King of Colosseum tournament champion
    • 2005 Rings World champion
    • 2004 King of the Ring Super Heavyweight champion
    • 2004 Muay Thai World champion
    • 2003 Intercontinental Muay Thai champion
    • 2002 Rings European champion
    • 2001 Rings European Vice champion

The thing I like about Kongo the most, is that he is a striker who knows his weakness(grappling)and is improving in that field with each fight. He is a safety first fighter and I like that. That defensive 1st mentality is what allows a fighter to improve without getting their bell rung or out classed.Much like what Silva did to Thales.

Everyone wants to bring up Heath Herring (SD loss BTW)

but why don't we bring up Anderson Silva loss to Ryo Chonan and other fighters who subbed him?when kongo has only lost by 1 exhaustion tko and
    3 decision losses.

Its because Kongo is where silva was in pride before coming to the ufc.
Except Kongo has been fighting in a much grander stage.Which
    leads to ridicule.

He is near that point of having a perfect "sprawl and brawl" unSubmittable"
ground game.Like a Heavy weight version Anderson Silva.

So to answer your question, if he fought Fedor tomorrow, he'd lose.

But if he does what I predict he'll do(And that's beat Mir or Lesnar.

Then beating Fedor won't be a far gap after winning the ufc hw crown.

He's a gatekeeper at best IMO. I enjoy watching him no doubt, decent gnp exciting stand up, but he doesn't beat top competition. I think he will be another good test for Shane Carwin before Carwin fights Mir.

Now i agree with what you are saying about Kongo, he seems to be improving in every fight, his striking is certainly one of the best in the HW division and he has all the tools to be champion, if he adds more submissions and works a little on his wrestling then he would be a serious danger to Fedor imo, but what i can't agree on is your comment about Silva losing to Chonan, the guy had just had knee surgery on both knees and shouldn't even have taken the fight, even after that he was kicking Chonan's ass from pillar to post until Chonan pulled off a move that was one in a million and took advantage of Silva's injuries, we all know what the result would be if Chonan ever dared to step in the ring with Anderson today, he'd get his backside firmly kicked, people don't talk about Anderson defeats because the fighter back then is not the same fighter we see today, it's night and day, especially when you consider he's taken things to another level in MMA since he arrived at the UFC.
