I'm desperate for Gamboa to win, but the size difference will be too big and I see Rios walking him down.
Gamboa will put a beating on Rios early, but Rios should walk him down and stop him in the late rounds.
Intriguing main event really classically its the equivalent of a welter facing a feather. I think this fight could have some real mileage. Dare i say I favour Gamboa in this one.
Definitely possible and plausible even. But it wont be a destruction, because Gamboa's speed is going to cause Rios all sorts of problems and even if he does walk him down and stop him, I would expect him to be behind on the cards and having taken a fair amount of punishment. It does seem a big size difference but I think Rios will be frustrated at how much he gets hit and the shots wont just bounce off him.
Didn't see that fight coming? Surely I'm not the only one? :huh I'm torn. I'd say that'd be an impressive win for Gamboa, very impressive.
The weight is going to be a big issue here with one boxer making the jump up while the other stays at a weight he looked to really struggle with last time. Against Murray, Rios had to take the scales several times and it showed on fight night as Murray pushed him to the edge and was winning the bout before Rios came back and stopped him (I think I had it even at the time of the stoppage although Rios had completely taken the momentum). Credit where credit is due and Rios continued to go forward and ground his man down. I expected him to move up to 140 after this fight but the Gamboa fight must have been to good to turn down. Gamboa moves up from Super feather for this fight after campaigning at featherweight previously. Gamboa will give up 2 1/2 inches in height as well as a 2 '' reach advantage. What he will bring is speed and precision. I see Gamboia being all over him early, Rios struggled with Acosta early on and Gamboa is a superior boxer to Acosta. I can see him getting inside and unleashing flurries before getting out of Rios range. Rios will do what he always does and relentlessly come forward hoping to wear Gamboa down for the later stages of the fight. I honestly think Gamboa will stop him in the mid rounds area. Sure Rios has a solid chin but I dont think he will deal with getting hit this much this quickly so well as he has done with other. If he lasts early then I give him a good chance of wearing him down. It's a great fight which surprises me that Arum is all for it, maybes these guys just dont draw as much for how good they are and he is hoping to create a new star for the coming years. The other question to ask is whether Gamboa can carry his power up and will it be as effective at the weight.
Also remember Gamboa has boxed as heavy as 133 1/2 before, he's coming up 7 lb from his last fight but i don't think the jump up will effect him that much. It will benefit Gamboa more than Rios making the weight if he is struggling
cracking main event...just look at how split every1 is cases can be made for both fighters really looking forward to this hopfully it happens
