Any thoughts on these? I hang my bag outside and it seems like it would be a good alternative to the traditional Everlast which usually only last about a year, even when covered. http://www.aquapunchingbag.net/ap190b.html
Never used one but did some reading on it. I honestly think it is a gimmick more than anything. They barely mention the fact it has water in it other than it 'feels like punching a human being'. I couldn't find one negative review on it which gives me some internal red flags since there are no counter-points or downsides listed. They start to talk about how the shape of the bag is superior, which just being spherical doesn't make it anything special since there are already other bags that exist in this shape. Without actually using it myself though, my advice is anecdotal at best so do what your gut tells you.
I am really interested in them myself, and for the price might just get one for the gym, its not the end of the world if it is rubbish. They seem to have lots of clips of well known boxers recommending them but the super brief mentions make me think they have just taken advantage of tiny fragments of longer interviews and the quality of that as a testimonial is limited.
Excerpt from UCN live article on a GGG camp: "AQUA BAG" Something I found intriguing at the Summit was the Aqua Bag, which stood on the corner of the gym adjacent to the ring. Its a bag shaped like a teardrop and hung from the ceiling. Its an apparatus Golovkin utilized extensively as he worked continuously on his overhand right. A heavy bag is so wide it makes everybodys punches wider, it hurts their shoulders but with this bag it moves around a little bit better and theyre able to throw their punches at a head, more or less, explained Sanchez. And they seem to like it; the fact its an Aqua Bag, its filled with water. It doesnt hurt their elbows or shoulders or their wrists. Golovkin says of the Aqua Bag, I like it because more power, more focus and hard punch. And less stress on his joints and ligaments that are used when punching? Exactly, my shoulders, my arms, just body. https://instagram.com/p/yawUIunKFt/ GGG working on it at 4min in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4O2VFoe3FM
Yeah, that's what I look like. I ordered it. I do like the fact it seems more durable than typical vinyl or canvas bags as my stuff is set up outdoors. I'll give my opinion when it arrives.
It's purpose is ,not to replace a regular bag, but to give the person hitting it an alternative bag to hit. It's a lot better for throwing upercuts and hook's on or for training for close in-fighting and body punching. Much better for the joint's and knuckles. It's almost indestructible. To bust it you have to stab it with a screw-driver or sturdy knife. As long as you hit it with just gloves on it should last forever. If you hang it out side and are concerned about freezing, just add a little anti-freeze. You can drop it , we threw it of a roof to test it. It did'nt do any -thing to it.
I own a boxing gym and i have 12 regular 150 pound bags hanging and 9 of the aqua bags. The 21 inch aqua bags seem to work the best. Un-like the normal round bag, the water in the aqua bag absorbs the force of the punch and the bag will not swing around as much. Also help's if your knuckles and wrist's are sore from punching regular bag's. Very good for teaching proper technique when throwing upper-cuts.
The one that ggg is hitting look's like a 12 inch, which is one of the smaller bags. That bag will swing a lot more than the 21 inch.
Every now and then someone orders one with a little pin-hole leak in it. They just ship it back and the company replaces it.
