Archie Moore had 98 fights with ranked contenders. Anyone with more?

    I do. I rate Spinks as the best light heavyweight all time on my personal list. I think head to head he would have a better record than anyone else if everyone fought each other — I base this on resume and what I can see on film.

    I’m not saying anyone else has to see it that way but it is absolutely justifiable.

    I think anyone rating Moore, Foster, Spinks, Ezzard or Greb at No. 1 can make a case. I think someone can also make a case for Roy Jones Jr as head-to-head best but the resume is harder to argue for him.

    I would add Jack Britton and Johnny Dundee to this "perhaps" list "if rankings had existed."

    I could ask him for clarification. It may be that he's including guys ranked by the N.B.A. I believe they had month-by-month rankings at the time, as well. I'm not sure as I didn't pry and didn't broach the subject to get data on Rosenbloom.

    It could be that he's mistaken.
