I've read many Moore comments, and listened to videos of his interviews. He talked about of both
sides of his mouth; rarely do his accounts of fights jibe with one another. He said several times that
he was the "little man" vs the "big man" vs Marciano, meanwhile he was outweighed by 3 big pounds.

Great fighter, lousy storyteller. Maybe if he hadn't drank so much steak blood his memory would have
    been more accurate.

Marciano did seem a tad hurt but recovered quickly but I think he got a little buzzed again later in the round. He also looked very uncomfortable in his corner after the round.

Have to take what most fighters say with a grain of salt however Marciano and Ali seem to be pretty honest from what I've seen from them.

Both are 5'11" and both weighed 188lbs...

In fact Moore had a huge reach over him if you wanna get technical (75" vs 68")

I want some of that steak blood now lol

Ol' Archie was 196 lbs for Valdez in May, then 175 for Olson in June, then 188.5 for Marciano in September (1955).
    Crazy.

1955-05-02 : Archie Moore 196½ lbs beat Nino Valdes 209½ lbs by PTS in round 15 of 15

Ali was saved by the bell & a great cornerman in Angelo Dundee. Enery's Ammer was a blockbuster

The interview I read stated "a few seconds".
Walcott hurt Marciano plenty, where do you get the idea otherwise?

Generally speaking most people “hurt” during a boxing match. But there’s a big difference between punches hurting and being in danger of getting knocked out.

Marciano said he wasn't even phased by the knockdown punch, and that the best punch Walcott landed was a body blow in the 12th round

I don't think he was ever in danger of being ko'd by Walcott, but he was certainly hurt by him and the statement to the contrary is what I challenged.

I often hear Moore being 40 as a reasoning for Rocky winning this fight.

Would a younger Moore beat Rocky?

Possibly, at least he would have the spring in his legs to avoid more of the punches.

Younger versions of Charles and Walcott might have beaten him, imo

I think a younger version of Louis would have a great chance, but imo Walcott fought one of his greatest fights that night, and Charles did too on the first fight. I believe they were in their primes

Moore is inferior to both of them, and only won 1-2 rounds against Marciano in a 1sided fight. I dunno how being 3 years younger would help him there.

Don't forget, Moore was still a great fighter. He reigned as LHW champ for about half a decade after his fight with Marciano

No fighter is in his prime at 38.The reason Walcott looks so good was Rocky was stylistically a perfect foil for him until he tired and resorted to going back to the ropes to steal rests for his legs.
The Walcott that baffled Louis might have beaten Rocky imo'
Charles had over a 100 fights on his clock ,he had only won 2 of his last 4 fights. He was not prime.
A year after the Marciano fight Moore was KTF by Patterson in 5 rds do you think Floyd would do that to a prime or near prime Moore?
How many times did Moore defend his title after the Marciano fight ,and how good were his challengers?

His legs were failing because it was the 13th round... Everyone's legs fail them at that point unless they're a cardio king like Ali, Frazier, Fitzsimmons or Marciano

Charles was jumping in and out of his prime, he looked bad against Nino Valdes and weighed over 190lbs. He got his form back and looked "as sharp as ever" against Satterfield, and weighed in the 180s again.

Fair, but Marciano has a puncher's chance, and 15 rounds is a long time to go with someone with freakish stamina.

Never even said that. Of course Moore would give a better fight, just like how he'd give a better fight to Marciano. He wouldn't beat either in his prime, however.

The challengers weren't exactly ATGs but they were young and hungry, and Moore still came out on top, even in his 40s. That's impressive to me.

Moore couldn’t see properly to ko him because everything then looked so blurry and in black and white.
