Archie Moore said Conn avoided him. How true is that?

Saw an interview with Archie Moore and he said that Billy Conn avoided him. Also, I heard that Archie Moore handed out "wanted" posters with Marciano's picture on them when he was trying to get a fight with Rocky.

Doubtful. Archie was mostly a middleweight during Conn's reign. Conn was already in the military when Moore made any considerable gain in light heavyweight.

Almost forgot about Moore's stint at middleweight

Conn was great but lacked power, if they fought I would put my money non the Old Mongoose.

In the early 40s? Conn almost surely would've won IMO

Chronologically I don't think it adds up.

Archie asked him about this- Conn replied “Because, you weren’t good enough” which might’ve been a colourful way of saying he wasn’t ranked yet or something.

One of the more bizarre ducking accusations, I'd say. Conn had his last fight as a LHW in 1940, years before Moore became an entity at the weight.

If you call Archie Moore a fibber he's going to come back from the grave and haunt you

If so, then we have a fantasy fight thread coming up. Billy Conn vs Archie Moore, both prime, at 175 lbs, 15 rounds.

Hmm? that's an intriguing match up. I was going to lean towards Conn but Archie might get him

Both prime? I'd favour Archie, but Conn definitely has the movement and speed to trouble him. Remember how bamboozled Archie as with the very quick Charley Burley (according to his own worfs)? That can repeat itself here.

Conn accused of avoiding Moore, but then Conn willingly faced Louis.

I would imagine facing Louis would be a whole lot scarier than facing Moore.
