Archie Moore was a credit to boxing and a credit as a human being. He did a lot for children, also the under privileged. unlike some boxers of today, he was a good role model and always cared about others. I read somewhere that he paid for a an eye surgery for a youth, who's parents did not have the means for that. I remember he came to my hometown, in 1969, at our Junior High school and showed us the title fight against Rocky Marciano, from 1955. He provided us with lots of ice cream and talked to us about being good solid law abiding citizens and working hard in school. He also had a Boys Club built in our neighborhood. He said to us that we could achieve anything in life, if we worked hard at it.

Archie Moore was a great father figure and role model.

A true 'man's man' for me. So much spirit.
