Bob fitzsimmons captures the belt from Corbett then signs up for a match with light heavy Moore. This is the marciano bout version of Moore. Both big hitters, both hardly in there prime, so who takes it.? 20 rounds with 50 s type gloves?
I like Moore he took a helluva a beating from Rocky before succumbing he could handle Fitz power. Moore had equal power to Fitz and Fitz being more stationary won't deal well with Moore's tricky style. I go with Moore late Fitz is old school tough but Moore is better and he had a ton of experience by this time.
Fitz doesn't throw enough punches each rd to beat Moore by decision and never had that good of a chin. Moore KO.
This is an match of two extraordinary fighters. I would say that Fitz was a bit more extraordinary in his own time and place, but the general level of boxing had improved a great deal in a half century, so I go with Moore. But even if Fitz is just time-machined in from the 1890's, Moore has to be careful that he doesn't walk into one. Fitz could win this with one punch.
Fitz had such a weird style, even for his day, that he's probably the last guy from this era that i'd be prepared to write off in a fight with a more modern champion. But Moore is probably clever enough to stay ahead of Fitz in an open weightclass contest. However, things get interesting if you take the lighter Fitz at a given poundage which Moore has to make. He'd struggle to make 170 at the point in his career when he was beating very good fighters instead of losing to great ones; the lighter you make Moore come in, the more interesting it gets.
Fitz was a trip hammer puncher. Lethal. I don't see any lt hwt taking his punches and surviving long. Fitz KO 5 over Moore.
To b honest mcvey, I'm torn between the two. Either man could produce sudden kd s /ko's. If I had to choose id say, if it's a early rounds ko it's Fitz. The later rounds ko comes at the hand s of Moore.
