I think Conn, too much movement, too skilled for archie to easily overcome the style advantage... I'd like to see if Conn could go long enough without making a game breaking mistake here... This actually would look a lot like the Louis fight.
Moore doesn't fight much like Louis, he is harder to hit will look to control the smaller Conn with his jab, set traps and counter and might not have a speed disadvantage anyway
Billy Conn of the first Louis fight ,outmaneuvers Archie Moore in a 15 round bout. Conn was along with Ezzard Charles the top LH since Gene Tunney. Pror to the Louis bout, Billy beat several heavyweights. Aside from Joe Louis ,and as a first year prelim boxer Conn was NEVER stopped, fighting the best opposition of that time. Billy even kod Bob Pastor, who was a tough fighter to beat. Conn over the slower Archie Moore.
2 of the best at that weight a tough fight. I think it goes to points but Archie had the best KO record so anything is possible. Billy was a good mover with power in both hands....Archie was a slickster and a cagey mongoose who could pin-point a bomb...hard for me to say, they could split a few
I would expect a gruelling 15 rounds of skillful boxing and competitive toughness on both sides. With a razor close decision.
Good fight....2 Lt. Heavy champs...both fought for the Heavyweight title...the man who almost beat Joe Louis against the man with the most KO's...good fight...
