Foster's possibly the only guy, maybe along with Fitzsimmons, who I think could take out Moore with one good shot. He was a true freak when it came to power, and his all around boxing ability and range would be difficult for Moore. Still I think Moore wins. Foster let some less than great fighters close down the range on him, even allowing a club fighter in..Depaula I think his name was, to score a disputed flash knockdown. Now Foster got up and put Depaula away in the same round but it shows he wasn't a master of range like Burley for example. I see Moore getting rocked and maybe dropped early as he figures Foster out, and it looks like Foster might be on the verge of putting him away and getting an early night. The mongoose is wily though and finds a way through as only he knows how. Moore then starts the deconstruction, starts taking more glancing blows on the way in and starts having more joy when he's up close. It's close on the cards all the way along, and Foster has the early rounds in the pocket, but Moore's precise deconstruction, starting around the short ribs and going up from there, is starting to take it's toll. The trenches are a second home to Moore, and if he could hang out with Marciano down there he's got a good shot with Foster. In the end, in a fight of the year candidate, Moore grinds out the KO over an exhausted Foster in 14. Foster didn't have all of Moore's losses at light heavy, but he didn't face such a rich mix of styles either. By the time Moore had reached his prime he'd fought just about every kind of fighter there was.
two absolute bangers who were both incredibly technically sound. great matchup. i could never pick between two of my favorites.
Foster by clean ko . he was rangier,a much taller guy with a harder punch, foster lands first un this mediocre chin
Charles did. My post from the Beterbeiv thread: "Moore is an interesting one, as his skill at and knowledge of opening people up and power is enough to beat foster on its own, then add in the footwork, speed and agility with his accuracy and angles, you'd be hard pressed to not favour Moore. But Moore would have an issue w Foster's jab imo, and his tactic of crossing his arms and slipping to the right would set him up perfectly for a left hook. If he couldn't take Patterson's left or Charles's right... This is a whole different kettle of fish. Although Foster wasn't bulletproof and Moore was the equivalent of a 12 Gauge at 175. 50-50 imo." I'll take Moore based on him proving he can beat Foster by beating guys on his level, or at least of a much higher level than anyone Foster beat. Not to mention Moore in his prime at LHW, circa 47-49, was still physically a phenom and had a large portion of his ring IQ intact. For me, Moore would let Foster lead and counter him, once he's hurt. Moore wins. Although a shoulder roll might be the end of him against Foster, based on having the chance to slip straight into a left hook after avoiding a cross.
I wouldn’t personally favor Foster to do it but yes it is possible. Moore lost to lesser men than Bob and Foster’s power at 175 was exceptional.
I'd give Moore the edge ,I think he would take Bob's harder punches better than Bob would absorb his,but both could visit the canvas.
I pick Moore to win this ,though, imo Foster was the harder puncher.Archie took a big shot a little better.
Archie has to rise from the floor like a man from the grave, to finally stop an exhausted Foster, in the last couple of rounds.
