Archie was furious at his manager here for making him go down to LHW to defend against Olson less than two months after weighing 197 and fighting Valdez in a title eliminator. All he wanted was to fight Marciano. He can barely hide his contempt for his manager and his manager is none too pleased to be put on the defensive. If you ever want a study in delusions of grandeur track down Bobo Olson's interview in regards to this fight. He states that he was the favorite going into this fight (he wasnt), that he was promised a shot at Marciano if he won (Id have to check this but Id find that matchup and prospect ludicrous) and that he was winning easily when Moore caught him with a lucky shot (not true in the least).
Bobo wanted Marciano? He woulda been like the dog down the street that liked to chase cars but wouldn'ta had an idea of what to do if he had caught it.
Moore was in fantastic shape for a 38yr old who had about a thousand fights under his belt. Guess all that sucking juice out of steaks really worked.
