Satterfield has some great wins...but he has some bad losses. He def didn’t suck at hw that being said he was a stepping stone and Williams couldn’t get by him. That being said Moore by KO

Taangstaad COULD have beaten Michael Spinks since he drew with Douglas who went on to beat Iron Mike.

Plus, Archie Moore was more wisecracking than Cleveland Williams. So there's that.

No shame in losing to Moore. He was a very good HW contender and an ATG light heavyweight with a hard punch at both weights.

I honestly think this is a 50/ 50 fight. Moore is clearly a much better fighter and much craftier, but is also smaller and not as powerful. Williams rarely beat good fighters and lost to several no names (although not in his prime). Moore was more consistent, but wasn't fullproof in his prime, either. Moore would seem the logical pick seeing as he was an awesome light heavy, and even had a very good heavyweight resume vs. Williams' not very good one. However, Moore never beat someone of Williams' caliber either, and the only man he ever faced who hit harder than Williams was Marciano. All that being said, it is pretty difficult to say who would win and how, so I wouldn't go into a fight like this with ANY expectations. It would probably be a good fight in any case though.

He did beat Valdez who was comparable to Williams more or less.

This thread's been around so long I may have already posted an opinion to it. If so, I hope my answers are consistent!
I give Williams a chance, but I favor Moore who twice defeated another big guy, Nino Valdes. But I am not sure that the healthy Williams was not more formidable than Valdes. Moore apparently outpointed Nino handily in both fights, but I remember when I watched one or both of them that he had to handle the bigger man carefully. He couldn't push him around. So, you never know for sure. Archie beat a lot of heavyweights, but he had to work pretty hard against the bigger ones. And Williams was at least as strong as any guy Moore ever fought. It would have been a good fight if both were near their primes.

Allow me to add this. Moore was an especially good defensive fighter against guys who could only put two or three punches together. He would cover up and inevitably weather any storm. It took pressure fighters like Marciano and a young Patterson to wear him down in order to defeat him convincingly. Williams was not such a fighter. Even if he nailed Archie once or twice, he probably couldn't finish him off. And if Archie recovered, he would be careful not to make the same mistake again.

I would agree. I think Williams was more skilled. However, Valdes had more good wins actually, despite being far less famous.
