Archie Moore vs Earnie Shavers

This would be a likely scenario, for them winning one apiece!

 

I dont know if I can see Archie making it the whole way without taking serious bombs and getting stopped.

But if Lyle and Quarry did it...

 

Archie out box’s him. But in a trilogy can see Archie getting caught once

 

This would be a great fight. Moore’s skill and savvy vs Shavers deadly power. I like Archie to win but I wouldn’t bet money either way

Archie Moore was an intelligent fighter, he had fought others with big bombs in their arsenals before in his career. Remember as tough as Earnie Shavers was, stamina was not on his side as in his first title bout against Muhammad Ali on Sept 29 1977, in Madison Square Garden. In round 15 he almost collapsed from exhaustion. Archie full aware of his power, would box Earnie and would let his bombs turn into duds. Archie by TKO 12, Moore has better stamina, and would not exchange with Shavers early in the fight.

 

Bravo. Moore too was a stoppage chance in this one. Even at heavy he could whack and Shavers was hardly that skilled. Moore had a knack of easing someone straight into the big shot. Of course he'd have to be careful as Earnie has immense power.

 

Shavers by 50 count knock out. JERRY QUARRY HAD MUCH BETTER CHIN THAN ARCHIE MOORE

 

Lyle and quarry were naturally bigger/thicker than moore and both had much better chin than Moore between hws. At hw lyle would ko archie moore

 

I wouldn't say that of Quarry. He's n inch or two taller but when both are around ~195 Moore looks significantly more heavily muscled to my eye than Quarry. Quarry looks like a scaled up Monzon,

but Moore always looked to me as if he weighed about fifteen pounds more than the scale would indicate.

Archie by stoppage - Archie has to counter and keep Shavers at bay, Earnie will gas - Archie too skilled - Vicente Rondon who was ko'd by Bennie Briscoe and Jose Gonzales and Bob Foster went 10 with Earnie.

Shavers could punch no doubt - I saw him get ko'd in 1 by Quarry and KO Ellis in 1 after getting hurt - I saw him fight Ali in MSG - he also lost to ordinary fighters like Bob Stallings -

While I pick Archie to plan out a victory, Shavers could always land a bomb- Stander, Quarry,Lyle, Mercado, Holmes, Ali, Rondon, Stallings, Cobb survived the Acorn Im think the mongoose managed to get to round 9 against Marciano and survived Satterfield and other punchers who had better stamina than Earnie so I pick Archie by stop or UD

 

Archie moore was not a natural 195 guy.

when the people will understand once and for all that making a weight does not mean that it corresponds to you naturally, quarry was perfect weighing 190-200 pounds and archie moore was perfect at 175.
And I seriously hate it when guys like you try to manipulate. selecting a certain photo where quarry seems thinner by the angle of the camera. quarry had bigger frame than archie moore and he never could have made the lhw limit

I'll understand this once and for all when it's explained once and for all -and backed by solid evidence. It's not clear to me exactly how "natural weight" is supposed to be terribly significant, and my opinion on the matter will remain unresolved and agnostic until I see something that resembles evidence.

I actually picked the best pictures from Quarry I could quickly find, looking for ones earlier in his career when he weighed around 195-200 and looked solid, rather than later when he sometimes looked a little doughy.
