He UD's the tough Burns. Fitz vs Moore would be a crazy fight, a KO either way is decently likely IMO, but I'd pick Fitz. I don't think his style would be great against Corbett. The cross arm guard would cost him against someone with the speed of Corbett.
He KO's all three. The Fitz fight would be the most interesting, and frankly the only one that would be close for some time. I'm trying to remember who Corbett beat besides a pickled, hog fat Sullivan.
I think he beats Burns by stoppage and drops a UD to Corbett Him vs Fitsimmons is an amazing fight and would be a boxing fans dream, i think Bob manages to out power anyone for one shot. But Moore could KO him as well, just like he could any LHW, that would cause some nail biting exchanges and would definitely a see a brutal KO I'd pick Fitsimmons based on the principal of you don't follow a puncher and I can see Archie doing that
I'm not sure he would KO Burns, but he was capable of knocking out any fighter his size. Either way, Burns would trouble him for a bit but he wouldn't win - either late TKO or clear decision. Corbett is tough because Archie struggled against faster boxers and Corbett was very elusive target. I still expect Moore to finish him late because Archie was too clever puncher to be avoided for 15 rounds. It would be tough battle, but Moore is more battle-tested. Late KO sounds fair. Corbett is not his class in my opinion, even though he had good style to beat Moore. Archie vs Fitz - two my favorite fighters of all-time. I can't pick without any doubts here. Fitz seemed to be at least as durable as Moore - both could be floored but it was very hard to KO them. Both could KO the other one, but it wouldn't be easy. Fitz seemed to have heavier punch, Moore was defensive master. Both very awkward fighters, I think it depends on who would figure out the other one. Any outcome is possible here and I can't pick the most probable one. Fitz in action: https://streamable.com/r487t Archie: This content is protected
OK, no one mentioned that Moore was going to throw the fight. Sure, I pick Corbett if that's the case.
Hmm... perhaps a topic for a full thread. Jim Jeffries, for one, thought it wasn't on the level. The betting was more than a little suspicious, too.
Janitor did one a bit ago, if you want to bump it. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/corbett-mccoy-fixed-fight-or-corbetts-last-big-win.605964/ I think there was a lot more question marks around the Sharkey fight often held against Corbett, with several next day reports calling it a fix.
In the months following the McCoy fight, the press sure was convinced that the fight wasn't on the level.
McCoy was a tricky man, and a con man. The fight between Corbett and McCoy was a very active hard hitting affair. both men were down. The press will show you that. McCoy got hurt by a punch and could not get up. Acting like it was a fix doesn't make it one. His excuse, same a Jack Johnson claiming to have taken a dive vs Willard.
