I think Marciano was right, this was the 4th time they'd fought and they knew each other so well. How good was Johnson? Well he went 1-3 against the old mongoose Moore and was ko'ed by Joe Walcott. He had some fine wins though, he went 2-1 with Bob Satterfield , beat Jimmy Bivins, and took a decision from Ezzard Charles. Later he had wins over Eddie Machen and Doug Jones, he lost at a try for the light heavy title again when he lost to Willie Pastrano in a 15 round split decision when he was past it at 35. Overall very solid fighter, he'd beat a lot of 175 pounders today
