What can you tell me about their fights? Moore won 4 of them while Johnson only won 1, but their matches prior to the last fight (which was the only fight to end in a stoppage) were said to be very close. Were the other 4 fights ever recorded, and were the fights close enough to the point that one of them could have gone to Harold's favor?
The 5th fight is the only one that I could find, but it's a really good one. Johnson was such a skilled boxer, but Moore seemed to have his number most of the time.

Johnson was every bit as skilled as Moore I think. What made the difference was Moore´s power and that he could think out of the box while Johnson always stuck to "how it should be done". Johnson mastered boxing as only few did but he lacked the imagination to do or try stuff that was´n in the "book".

That's because Johnson had the "counter puncher's mentality"...he hardly ever went for the knockout. This is the main reason how Pastrano was able to beat him...by taking over the counter puncher's role and forcing Johnson out of his comfort zone.

Except I don't think Pastrano beat him. In fact I personally feel Johnson won that fight by a much bigger margin than did Whitaker against Chavez, but such is life.

As for the thread, honestly Moore was just all wrong for Johnson. He was 95% as skilled and a dynamite puncher. had Moore not been around Johnson might well be regarded as the greatest light heavyweight of all time.
