Is there a reason why we're counting O'Brien as a title fight opponent but not Al Kaufman?

    Learn how to read.:patsch:patsch:patsch

I said 1 ) Primary sources say O'Brien was the better. Jack was in his absolute prime, O'Brien long in the tooth! How embarrassing!

Do you see the word scored here?

More primary sources say O'Brien got the better of Johnson? How many more sources say this.

A few say O'Brien was the better. I did not say more, that is debatable. The below are primary sources or local papers where the fight took place.

The Philadelphia Item stated that O'Brien soundly out-boxed Johnson.

The Wilkes-Barre Times Leader had O'Brien winning three rounds, with two even, and 5th round to Johnson

Trenton Times reported that the referee stated he thought O'Brien the winner by a shade.

Wow! a Philadelphia paper scored a fight for a Philadelphia fighter in a bout held in:

    Philadelphia!

ps You seem to have forgotten to post the rest of the link.

The Sports editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer in May 23 issue wrote: "A half dozen writers, for instance, gave Johnson the credit of having won the bout, but no two of them agreed as to the distance by which he won, and if you read all these accounts you must have come to the conclusion that he won at any distance from a whisker to a city block.

"Yes, and primary news sources say O'Brien was the better! "

Just as many, in fact 4 more, said Johnson won it!
