Then again Vassiliy Jirov uses his face as defense. Moore brings the workrate, but he also brings the skills and experience of a man who faced some of the greatest fighters of all time in over 100 professional fights.

As you said, Jirov vs Toney was fairly close although a clear win for Toney, but Jirov was a much more favourable stylistical match-up for Toney who likes his opponents standing right in front of him.

My thoughts here. And it would be a good fight.

I don't think that Archie is a craftier, better boxer than Toney (a peak Toney). Of course he hits harder than James, but that doesn't count much since Toney has a granite chin and seems to be bulletproof against bodypunching too.

As for the experience factor, well Archie had 200+ pro fights and James has 80+ pro fights, but I think at 80+ pro fights Toney has seen it all, and so had Archie after 80 pro fights. I don't think you can gain much more experience after 80 pro fights, you're a veteran.
Toney was in tip top condition when he faced Jirov, the weight at which he'd ideally face Archie Moore, and the best shape he's been in after he moved up from SMW.

As I said, I see Archie outworking Toney over 15 rounds in a close one here.

I really don't see Archie losing to a guy who likely would not be able to hurt him .. the more I think this one over the more one sided it becomes ..
