Jersey joe stops moore, in a rematch moore stops walcot, then in a 3rd fight walcot repeats what he done in the 1st fight
despite moore has a win over joe (arnold) i go with joe , don't know if decision or stoppage about the same chance , a decision somewhat more probable. joe did better vs. charles , about the same vs. marciano , should have won vs. louis in their first encounter , and 185 is really comfortable for him - although also better than 175 also for moore. but joe a tad bit bigger than moore which is also an advantage though really not a critical one for them in that weight (185).
I favour Walcott although he was normally at his best in the early 190's weight wise, so this could be a factor. It would defiantly be an interesting fight.
I like Walcott by kayo, although in a series of say 4-5 fights I reckon Archie would win one on points by boxing cautiously. Joe had the right style to really give Archie some serious problems. This might not be the best analogy to use but if you think about it Ezzard Charles was Moore`s master and owned him outright in all three of their encounters for the most part, yet Charles was never able to subdue and control Joe who always gave him a lot of trouble and in fact laid him out for the count in their 3rd bout. And look at what Joe did to Louis in their two bouts, he really gave the Brown Bomber a hard time in there and I have a very difficult time seeing Archie have any kind of success vs Louis, he gets flattened everytime imo. Joe was ripped to the tits at 194-196 lbs with muscles forged out of steel while Archie always looked a bit soft when campaiging up at heavy, the naturally bigger man was clearly Joe and we all know a good big man more often than not beats a good smaller man. Now factor in Walcotts stylistic advantages notably his clever and quick feints with his shoulders and feet along with his handspeed and two fisted power and Archie is in for a long night. Joe was just so damn cagey and deceptive and such a wicked, hard hitting counter-puncher that I simply cannot see Archie having much success against Jersey Joe who would outbox and lay out Moore for the count imho.
I like Walcott but I think it would be a close UD. Archie would pursue and JJ would counter but JJ may be content to win and not go for the KO...and Archie was slick and could make it close
Two of the canniest boxers ever. Muhammad Ali has frequently expressed admiration for both. Tight one to call, head to head. I lean towards Walcott. Naturally bigger, and size would be the factor here,as they had equal though different skills.
Walcott by a late rounds ko...I'm more impressed by Walcott the more I see him..he was a visionary of shiftiness.
I don't like Walcott down low at 185 pounds......... ****, Walcott was stocky and buffed solid at 6' and 194 pounds........... At 185, Walcott is weight-drained........... BUT!! Overall, Walcott would box and pound on Moore as a heavyweight........ Moore MIGHT get parked by Walcott in a time machine.?.?.? :bbb MR.BILL
I have to agree that the stipulation of Walcott making 185 lbs is going to hurt him. In some ways this could be one of the harder fights to predict because both men are fighting with a full set of chess peices. We know that both were a box of tricks and had good power. Walcott was the better finisher of the two and the more durable, which could perhaps be the decisive factor.
