    1. A cautiously-fought opener. Moore not using the cross guard much. Moore was the aggressor, which certainly counted. Moore.
    2. Both upped their punching. Bivins may have been rocked, but I am not sure on that point. Moore.
    3. Both displayed good defense. Moore looked excellent: a good jab, good blocking, and solid punching. Moore.
    4. Bivins was on the attack this time. He showed a good punch now and then, but is too shy with his power and aggression, and grabs too much. Added to that, Moore further exploited Bivins by causing him to miss a lot. Bivins' best round, but he couldn't take it. Moore.
    5. With a minute to go, Bivins moves in on Moore, who lands some excellent counter blows. Moore turns Bivins and shoves him across the ring. Exchange at the bell. Moore.
    6. All of Bivins' shots bounced right off Archie's arms. Even.
    (Rounds 7-8 not given)
    9. Moore landed a quick left-right on Bivins, who was on the ropes, and then Bivins clinched. Shortly after, Moore wrestled Bivins to the floor. Bivins landed face-first, but beat the count in order to make it back to his corner, where the fight was stopped after the 9th. Moore.

Of the 7 rounds supplied, Moore took six and one was even. So it was a pretty one-sided contest.

Question: Was Bivins decked, or was he simply wrestled to the canvas, where he injured his nose, jaw, etc., and because of that the fight was stopped?
I watched the moments right before Bivins went down over and over again and just could not find a single punch that looked like it would have dropped Bivins.

Verdict: Decent performance by Moore, but rather forgettable imo.

I thought it was an uppercut that did it.

I like these fight reports Walker, I had Archie take every round , Jimmy would compete in every round but Archie always came out on top.

I agree with your scoring. Moore won all the rounds, with perhaps one even.

This is the first, and I think for me the only, time I have seen Bivins. I can't say I was impressed. He had a great record during the war, but afterwards was someone who couldn't beat the top five types. His big wins over Charles and Moore might not be what they seem. He had an 18 lb. weight pull over Moore. I have read that Charles was in the service and couldn't train for Bivins. After the war, both dominated him.

The ending? Moore landed some heavy leather earlier in the 9th, but it was hard to tell if any of those final punches landed. The uppercut looked like it missed, but again I don't like this angle. Husing said Bivins was hit in the temple by a right. He might have had a better view.

For me, the main reason to watch this is seeing Hall-of-Famer Bivins. I would love to see a good film of him in his prime.

    Thanks for posting.

In my post I forgot to mention what might have been the real reason for Bivins' collapsing.

Bivins might just have gotten weary of listening to that woman screaming. I have never heard one person so loud. And hysterical. It sounded like someone was strangling her.

Did any one else notice that screaming?

Pabst Blue Ribbon, that's Pabst Blue Ribbon!

Love the announcing. Only 1 guy in the booth, not three talking heads going on an on an on every second of the rounds.

Yeah I heard the screaming too.

Bivins was one of the only opponents Moore genuinely didn’t like. Always felt he was hit with a dirty shot in there first fight. He also dated Bivins X I believe. Could be wrong on that last part.
