I think it all depends on which Max Baer shows up for the fight. The prime Max Baer, who KO'd Max Schmeling and Primo Carnera would, in my opinion, stop Archie as did Ezzard Charles with his firepower and durability. On the other hand, Moore was more consistent over a longer period of time and I believe his skills would enable him to outpoint the Baer who lost to Loughran, Braddock, Louis, and Nova.

Prime Baer by virtue of size, boomsticks in both hands, and underrated speed.

It takes a lot more than that to beat a Prime 1952 Archie Moore. Baer lacked SKILL and a jab. I think Moore could make Baer look bad and expose his flaws. Marciano got too moore, but Baer didn't have Marciano's workrate or toughness. Baer was not a smart fighter, Moore usually picked apart guy's like this. Moore packed a wicked punch too, enough to hurt Baer.

You don't have to be a genius trapsmith to win them all. Baer lacked the top level of skill, but the way you portray him is like a man with none whatsoever. He threw devastating short punches at his best and was better at picking em off with a cross-arm than you give him credit for. The problems Baer presents are difficult. I think Moore being the trapsmith he was would be thrown for a loop by Baer's strange switches between idling and explosions of punches.

Schmeling was another guy who patterned himself off another's rhythm. He couldn't really hurt Baer, even while he was landing at will. You're talking about Moore being able to hurt Baer. What about the other way around? The guy had literally murderous power. I see Baer getting schooled and then opening Moore up with some less than legal tactics and his strength somewhere later in the fight and doing a Foreman on him.

Baer definitely does have a big time punchers chance. Im not questioning him as a lethal puncher and finisher

Both at thei best: Baer by KO.
Both at "average": Moore by UD.

Well Baer lost to Loughran and Braddock, so you'd think Moore could replicate that type of performance. Although then again Baer knocked out Schmelling who has similarities to Moore. Moore would be no stranger to hanging with bigger men as he proved against Valdez and Baker. I think Moore has to be favoured to pull out the UD

Bear was strong and a big hitter, but I'm not impressed at all seeing him on film. I'm picking skill over power here and going with Moore.
