For those who have fought, do you feel differently? That perhaps you have "left a piece of yourself" in the ring?

I'm curious to hear from those who have been in there how you feel.

Emotionally, I cannot say I ever felt like I left anything in the ring.

My hands have not fared as well, being broken numberous times

This is boxing, not the freakin' Vietnam War.

    I know that.

My question should have been, does anyone feel brain damaged from fighting? Is it something you feel? That you consciously know has happened?

Hey if you have headaches you should not be boxing. If they continue and you disregard the pain then that’s your decision.

Concussions are a big deal in all contact sports. If you get knocked out you need to be evaluated by a boxing doctor. The good thing about boxing and MMA is that it’s highly regulated in the USA, as far as physicals.

I do have a concern about MMA.... They use very little padding in grappling gloves (3-4 ounces). Not that I have any research to say that this is too little or not enough, the fact of the matter is MMA is getting more popular. And MMA's are learning the crowd loves the fighters standing up throwing versus ground and pound.

Not enough research is out there to fully understand health effects on MMA’s.

Hands and wrists can take a pounding and be slow to heal. I haven't got brittle hands or anything but when somebody decides to headbutt your hardest punch with the top of their head the energy had gotta go somewhere. At least the guy had the decency to go down after though................:yep

In order for one's social life to die, one would need to have a social life in the first place, amy.

True, so when you were 'training' for the 'golden gloves', your social life clearly couldn't have died. Makes sense :good
