Good posts everyone, but back to the question:

Do any of you feel brain-damaged since you've fought?

brusing of the cheeks every now nd then... sore knees from running ... black eye every now nd then... but i think it is how you take in all the punishment this sport can dish out.. if you are mentaly strong with dedication/hard work you will be physicaly strong enough to last in boxing

Nope, never felt any side effects after sparring and after having my first match. Though my body was really tired and my immune system got weaker from training constantly. Maybe I wasnt training smart that is why that happened to me.

    Weaker from training? :huh

When you train you build up your immune system. But right after a hard training your immune system becomes very weak. You break it down to build it up. Unless there is something I've missed here, please enlighten me... :)

The problem is if you overtrain. Never letting your body actually go through the complete recovery and improvement phase, you just wear it down..

I said I didnt train smart. The moment they announced to me that I was gonna fight, I quickly jumped on the gun. Not a smart move on my part. I peaked at the wrong time. I peaked like a month before. I felt really fine, not getting tired, reflexes were fast. Then after 2 weeks or so of continuing training, I got sick. I rested for 2 days and when I came back, I was never the same again until fight night. Didnt get the stamina I had before I got sick.

If you have to worry about that then dont box --- find another sport.
Or get in shape. Do lots of neck exercises, bridging, keep you hands up and your chin down, lots of cardio.
Dont let nothing hit you for free.
Then if the punches that you are getting hit with are bothering you still -- find another sport.
