Simple question, I am NOT talking about steroids and such. I am strictly referring to guys who use "rough house tactics" so to speak in the ring. The best known example of this is probably Bernard Hopkins, who is known to hit on the hips, throw some low blows etc in clinches when the ref can't see. So what is your opinion on fighters like this? Do you think it makes them crafty if they can get away with it, or does it make you think less of them, and you consider them dirty?

It ain't dirty if you dont get caught. Ref didnt see it,it didnt happen.

Everyone is dirty. Lewis hit and held,Foreman pushed,Hopkins rams people as does Holyfield etc Every fight had little tricks. How many times have we seen these guys get points deducted? Golota is dirty because he got caught and was obvious.

    That's easy.
If you're a fan, the boxer is crafty.
    If you're not, they're dirty.

Well I think Hopkins takes it alot further than most, he beats guys up in the clinches lol. I suppose all fighters bend some rules, but I'm more referring to guys who use it as a large part of their plan, and are masters at getting away with it. Another example would be Pedroza, who tries to hit people with his elbows when he throws hooks, and has been known to throw low blows, and then go for the knockout when they go to complain

Nope, as an opponent, you have to put a stop to it and solve it, its all ring IQ, the superior IQ will prevail.

    It depends.

When you have a cagey veteran like Hopkins, it could be considered crafty.

But when you have Golota using his head like a battering ram or throwing three punch combos to the balls, I'd say "crafty" is probably the wrong choice of word.

Ok well the difference there is Golota is blatantly fouling due to total lack of self control, and a thug like mentality. He isn't trying to get away with it, he is just a nut job. A guy like Hopkins goes out of their way to foul, but makes a concerted effort to cover his tracks, and is methodically punishing guys in the clinches, not impulsively losing control like Golota.
