thats a good point , our favoured fighters make us wait months in between performances so there is so much more time to hype ( or overhype )

The internet exageration effect should be taken into account

if I had it my way, the big names would fight 3 times a year instead of just 2

Froch was obviously the better man that night, but what about styles make fights. This being the first time that Bute "stepped up" in class and consequently losing, could indeed be a coincidence.

He could have stepped up against any other fighter top 168lber not named Froch and maybe kept his belt.

I don't see ow losing this fight even in this fashion makes him a hpye job and or exposed.

I understand that, but its fickle to me to say that a fighter was exposed after one fight.

    It's simple really

All his hype came from beating b and c level opponents

He fought an elite opponent and looked absolutely embarrassing, there are handpicked fights to ease new prospects in against journeyman that don't end up like that

IMO when you garner a reputation as a top level SMW off the back of beating gatekeepers while being a champion for 4 years, then you fight someone who isn't a journeyman and get brutally and decisively stopped, it rightly puts a large dent in your rep

To me that's exposure, he was exposed for being not nearly as good as the majority of people thought he was

It's entirely possible that Froch had a style all wrong for him, but considering he has had 31 fights, (the same number as Carl) and only really fought one opponent with a pulse, it's difficult to think anything other than he was was vastly overhyped

Especially from the perspective of future fights, is Ward going to want to go near him? No, it's no longer even a lucrative fight, he probably won't get an elite fight again (aside from the Froch rematch) due to his age

So unless he dismantles Froch, I'm not sure where he will go after this, because he isn't going to be in high demand

Bute fought guys that Andre and Carl fought, but beat them in a better fashion. I understand his stock dropping, but I don't think his career is necessarily over because of one loss. This isn't just about Bute, im not a fan of his actually(I can't stand his fans, who have been awfully quiet lately ).

For example, if pacquiao loses to bradley they are going to say, "As soon as he faces someone younger and slick and black, he gets his ass whooped!"

1 performance doesn't erase all that happened before, whether it's a good one or a bad one. But it does add/substract to it any way you look at it.

Pascal looked like **** against several B-C level opponents and then schooled Chad Dawson. Bute looked like a monster and got his ass whooped by Froch.

Beating Chad Dawson didn't erase Pascal's poor performances against lower level opposition and Bute's loss doesn't erase his good ones, but definitely you can't ignore that Pascal beat Dawson and Bute lost to Froch.

True boxing fans know what's really going on. Casual fans have short memories. Trolls are fickle.:D

I don't think so, the amount I see between people who watch football is far worse imo, it can be with near enough every game.
