Are Bute and Kessler bound to meet before 2010 in the ring?

Well, this is what we know for a fact, so far:

Kessler wanted to fight Bute this summer, to prove he was the best SMW in the absence of Calzaghe. However, straight after the Calzaghe v. Kessler fight in November last year, Bute and his trainer made a statement in which they said Bute wasn't anywhere close to being ready to give the likes of Calzaghe or Kessler a good, competitive fight. They said Bute still needed at least a year to learn and develop and improve. That year was to be 2008.

Then, after the Joppy fight, Bute and his trainer said they wouldn't refuse a fight against Taylor or Pavlik at any time this year. Bute also said that by that time next year (i.e. Spring/Summer 2009), he hoped to be ready to fight Kessler.

So...it is expected that Bute will fight Kessler before the end of summer next year. I'm sure that Kessler will want to fight then too! So, it's on!

Most Bute fans will no longer be fans if Bute backs out of his promise to fight Kessler next year. Kessler is also expected by everyone to agree to this fight, next year...

...so...I'm pretty sure we won't have to wait until 2010, but, certainly, by summer 2010, this fight WILL happen; of that I'm 99.9% sure.:good

(To give Kessler a good fight, Bute first needs to prove he can deal with pressure. So...he needs to dispatch Andrade, his likely mandatory, in autumn. Bute also needs a better jab and better defence, not to mention a very good gameplan.) I'm optimistic for the future, but right now, Kessler is clearly favourite. Don't really care that much who wins this one, even though I'd like Bute to improve enough for it to be close, because both are my favourite SMWs too, now that Calzaghe is out.

Taylor vs. Kessler first please, I need to say Taylor brutally dominated so badly to finally END this garbage.

Even losing to Andrade by gassing out late wouldn't do it totally, he needs to be dominated so badly that it's too much to watch, except for me, I'll enjoy every second of the beating Kessler lays, beauty in violence.:D

Every time I say: "no, leave Taylor and Froch to Bute - it will be more competitive", people say: "No, no! We want to see a massacre! A one sided beating! Kessler is the man for the job!":-(

    Right now Mikkel beats Bute.

Bute is still a years away from facing Elites like Kessler and Calz. I don't even know how he'd do against Pavs.

I want to see him just wrecked, executed by brutal boxing masterclass. Then we won't have to hear about him ever again.

Now that would be an interesting fight. Such different styles, it would be a great, relentless chess match.

Kessler would beat Bute right now, but by a smaller margin than a year ago (9th round KO versus a 2nd round KO). When, or if this happens - what a fantastic fight it will be. Bute is science, needs to work on a few things as someone mentioned above.

    (Any predicions on Kessler Miranda?)

I'm not sure Kessler would have stopped Bute in 2 a year ago...think you're being a bit unfair to Bute...

Kessler wanted to fight but Bute ducked him. Kessler has every right to fight for The WBO belt and ignore Bute. Bute should have fought kessler when he offered it instead of running.

3 years later and Bute has still to fight any of the top guys, this thread is shocking as it shows just how long Bute and co. have been disgracefully avoiding the best.

Kessler: Hey Bute, i am fresh, in my 20's and healthy... Want a bout? Bute: Not really.. I'll just milk my title here in Canada..

*Kessler gets a beat down against Ward and pulls out a win in a war against Froch, then has to take 9 months off due to injury*

    Bute: wanna fight?
