We don't know what Canelo's punch resistance is at this point. He is now in his prime, and hasn't fought someone who could really bang yet.

 

when you get rocked by light weights (cottos brother) and hurt down at 147 it does not bode well when you go to 160

 

Angulo and Kirkland can bang, but not as hard as Golovkin, Lemieux or Stevens.

 

He wasn't matured as a fighter in those early fights though. I don't hold that against him. He's been hit by harder punchers more recently and held up fine.

 

How do you know how hard Lemeux or Stevens hits? Like Angulo, and Kirkland their KO's come against bums.

Rubbish. Look at Kirkland and Angulo's resume. The vast majority of their KO's have been against bums. That is a fact. Against their better opposition, that power went down the drain, because neither are one punch power type guys. They are more the accumulation type. As far as which fighters are stopping non bums. Off the top of the head, Kovalev, and Chocolatito. Golovkin stopped Murray. Murray isn't a bum. Glowacki stopped Huck. There are guys getting stoppages at the top level.

 

Canelo at 160 will be much stronger those 5 pounds are killing his power.

Initially I thought Canelo edged it....then again I had about 10 shots and a six pack by that point and not well concentrated.

The crowd was 95% Opie fans and all the oohing and aahhing even while Canelo swinging at the air....!

Cotto got in a lot of combinations and even trippled up on his jab while giving him a lot of angles and lateral movment.
Whereas Floyd gave Canelo the right distance and peppered him with Rights...!


I watched it twice silently and have it a draw or Cotto edging it by a round....( sober I might add ).

La Prensa called the decision a robbery.
Juan Manuel Marquez called it a draw.
Bad Left Hook had it a draw.
Bleacher Report had it 115-113 for Cotto.
