Are even hardcore fans overrating Mayweather considering his last opponent?

He looked great but consider who he fought. Is that performance falsely giving even hardcore fans the illusion that PBF is greater than he actually should be given credit for in his chances against Pacman?

Maybe if he had fought someone more live and looked less dominant, we might not favor PBF so widely?

No overrating. Mayweather came back and for the first time in his career fought a smaller man ( no Fat Hatton was not smaller). Juan marquez was the number 2 p4p fighter in the world and it was a chance for Mayweather to get back in the ring, shake off any rust and get ready for the megafight thats gonna be upon us in a few months.

I didnt judge Mayweather based on he looked in Marquez, I just judged him based on how he looked period. He was still technically sound and cat quick which is why i believe that school Pacquiao. It has nothing to do with how he fared against Marquez.

a lot of these guys on this site that are saying mayweathers victory over marquez is overrated because marquez was past it are the same guys that said marquez had a chance and than mayweather completely outclasses him and makes him look like a chump, and now all the sudden marquez was a dead man walking entering the fight, its completely ridiculous how far paquiao fans will go to pump their guy up

Marquez looked vulnerable against Diaz of all people. And not to mention that he's a smaller guy, most comfortable in a counter puncher's postion at the lower weight, who was forced to move 2 weight classes north in order to fight an aggressive fight.

I didn't start watching Mayweather fights last year....Floyd is a complete fighter. The only negatives is that he should have fought some guys on his way up to 147.

No, Floyds good, real good.In fact he is the best until proved otherwise. He might be one of the best ever, although for sure he's the biggest douche bag that ever squared off, going back to the days of James Figg.

Floyd is the type of talent that comes once a generation. Underrated? Yes...

I see your point. Yeah, in terms of quickness and reflexes, it still looked to be there. But you can't judge this without looking at who he fought. Your level of opposition dictates how good/bad you look. JMM was way, way above his ideal weight.

I'm not saying PBF is overrated. I'm saying that maybe even the hardcore fans are somewhat overrating PBF's chances against Pacman based on how he looked against an overmatched/oversized opponent.

I can't imagine anyone being favored over Mayweather or pac...to me, this fight would be even money.

i know mayweather is undefeated, but this version of Pac looks unbeatable at 147 and under.

i hope both fighters really want it and make this fight happen.

i still have my doubts that it will ever materialize.

JMM was an interesting matchup, not for the fact that JMM was going to win. But if anyone is out there to try and create some type of blueprint for other fighters to follow and look to defeat PBF in the future. JMM would have been the best guy to do so.

Pac is now going to be interesting because if there was anyone out there with more athletic ability, speed, and power then PBF it would be Pacman.

Pacman just beat the crap out of Cotto yet people are still talking about size when it comes to PBF. So does that mean that you recognize that PBF is flat out better then Cotto? People also say that Pacman's win over DLH was legit. DLH is way bigger then PBF and Pacman. So does that mean that PBF is that much better then DLH or are you guy admitting that the win over DLH isn't legit?

What do you mean his last opponent? Floyd has been a welterweight since before Barack Obama was a US Senator-- yet he has never fought a welterweight in his life. Of course he's overrated.

Somewhat yea. It was a size disadvantage to say the least. Add in the fact that Marquez has troubles with fighters going backwards. The John fight should show you Marquez has trouble with counters. He fought the wrong fight and tried to be the aggressor.
