So is there a lot of controversial fights in the amateurs? because scoring in the olympics sometimes are protested but i never hear that in the national tourneys here..
I don't know. Boxing is emotional. Seems everyone who loses thinks they got robbed....Olympics or local shows. Just the nature of the sport I think.
well emtional or not some people do get robbed big time! this kid in my gym beat the living crap out of his opponent the other week he was all bloodied up and **** but because the guy from my gym is a counter puncher and always boxes on his backfoot the judges gave the decision to the other guy because he was more aggressive....ridiculous cause our guy had no marks on his face and the other guys face was a mess.....daylight robbery that was!
Aggression is often rewarded in the ams, and beating a hometown fighter like in the pros can be just as tough if not more difficult. If you are a counter puncher, you better be making a statement with those counters. Head snapping back and noise...or otherwise you aren't likely to get the credit for them...and the guy throwing shots that are hitting gloves will be getting it unjustified. So be prepared for that going in and knowing what you are up against. Throw lots of volume in the first round if you can, if for anything to give the perception you are dominating. The scoring just isn't that good,or honest...so you really need to remove doubt.
