The usual process of when a fighter achieves success and acclaim, is that haters come out to play. Pacquiao, Mayweather, and klitschko's are probably the main sufferers of haters atm and it's looking like its happening to khan too.

It can be rather irritating to hear people completely dismiss a fighters career and ability, but then again maybe they serve a purpose in boxing. In a sense haters are just critics, some of them very bad critics but like in art, film, literature critics are the ones that analyse the subject in detail and look at the negatives as well as the positives.

Haters i suppose are just really pessimistic critics. For me even when a hater is being particularly and unfairly dismissive of a fighter their's often some truth in what they say, and pointing out a fighters weaknesses is better than ignoring them and only looking at their strengths.

fighters need more than just money to motivate them to train hard and improve to become the best they can be, and trying to prove all the haters wrong can give them that extra push.

id take a critical hater over an ignorant fan boy any day.

    ^Pretty much

I don't really dislike any fighter (except Floyd for his personality) but he's prob my fav active boxer

I just thoroughly dislike any annoying blinkered fans of any fighter, and given Pacquiao and Klitschkos prominence, their fans are the worst.

If you check certain posters threads they've participated in, the list will literally read Pacman vs floyd, drug testing, floyd is ducking, pac has cramps etc etc etc

    It's a joke

well khan for instance, through out his whole career he's had people saying he has no chance because his limited boxing ability and poor chin. fair enough i suppose because of the prescott loss, but there's still people saying the same thing after khan has beaten judah and maidana.

some haters just hate for the sake of it, but likle i said in the original thread maybe its not a bad thing.

Klitschko and Pac fans aren't a monolith. You'll find differences of opinion amongst any group of boxing fans. It just happens that often haters on here will make threads claiming Jack Johnson or Dempsey would clown either Klitschko and, inevitably, knock them out in the 32nd round. You can't expect all of us to rise above this sort of trolling

yeah the sycophantic fans are bad or boxing. they don't look at fighters objectively and spread false opinions of certain fighters ability. haters although they're dicks at times at least they're realists.

I was referring to Pacquiao not Khan. But the reason people disliked Khan was his arrogance whilst still unproven.

yeah but many people completely dismissed his ability. saying he wouldn't amount to anything. which was pretty unfounded considering khan was a silver medalist at 17...

i understand pacman haters are often reacting to *******s over rating manny, but they still direct some of that criticism on to manny as a fighter, and some of it is pretty ridiculous. like now just because manny struggled against marquez, manny has no chance against floyd!!! thats an ignorant statement.

Haters who can explain why they hate the fighter with any form of intelligence and common sense are fine. It's the haters who just roll up and yell nonsense that are bad for the discussion.

"Wlad has a boring style" is an honest criticism from many people. "Wlad is the worst HW ever and sucks", not so much.

yeah there's definitely a difference between the thoughtful and ignorant hater.

the klitschko haters who say stuff like " he's the worse HW ever" are clearly talking out of there ass. but i suppose it's true that the bro's are not as good as the likes of holmes, ali, johnson, louis, lewis ect.

And by listening to the two extremes you can usually decipher the truth somewhere in the middle.

but my point is that maybe those ignorant ones serve as to motivate the fighters to prove them wrong. it's not the only motivational factor of course, but with someone like floyd mayweather for instance i think it plays a big part in his preparation.

Haters are good for nothing. (at least in their hating capacity)
(normal) critics however are really necessary in boxing.

Haters r good in the sense that they bring in money and create controversy but they are bad in the sense that they give general boxing fans a f'n headache with their ***** like bickering.. *****s, *******s, Klit lickers.. Their all the f'n same, not one is better then the other... Groupie fanboys who don't talk about anything else and act like their fighter is the greatest of all time and can't be beat. Floyd, Pac n Klit r all great fighters but NOT top 10 ever in my book.. Maybe not top 20.

I've kept a close eye on Khan's career from the very beginning, and one of the main reasons why people disliked him, was because of the promoter he was with. They felt he was too cuddled to be enjoying the overwhelming support he was.

    Which is fair enough.

But then when he leaves Frank to seek a more adventurous route in America, those same people started shitting on him for not being loyal to Frank.

Some fighters, mainly the successful ones who draw a bit of resentment, just cannot win in the eyes of some.

Yeah, boxing would be much better if hating wasn't allowed.
That way a fighter could sit in Montreal, fight a bum a year, and collect $10M/fight without some hater pointing out that this guy only fought bums.
That is exactly what boxing needs to be a successful sport.
