It's all kinda crazy.. Only a couple short years back, they were 2 of the most intimidating punchers and in the world, and many people were so much into them and behind them. Fast forward to 2010, and they're nearly a boxing footnote for a lot of boxing watchers. Crazy sport.
Well, if you compare this to NBA basketball, there have been 2-3 year wonders also. Shooting stars like Micheal Ray Richardson, Penny Hardaway, etc. Destined for greatness, but flamed out, early.
Maybe the term ATG should have been explained early in this thread cause there's at least 13 voters who don't seem to be familiar with it:think
They should be ATG's in the HOF. They probably induct too many guys, so they have to get some guys who are not ATG.
The ways sports work. They are successful and intimidating, but to be ATG in the level of the immortal boxers takes quite a bit of work and winning. If all a guy had to do to be ATG was win a title and defend a few times, then we would have 1000 ATG fighters. You have to draw a line somewhere.
Atg to me is top 100 and neither make it although Cotto is closer than Hatton. I think Cotto should make the HOF one day though, Hatton is borderline and might sneak in,hard to say.
Nope, neither. Neither would be even close to being in my top 100. I don't think I can look much beyond 100 ATG's otherwise it kinda gets devalued.
so why is cotto better than hatton , look at there biggest wins, yes hatton fouhgt a few poor fighters in the past but so has cotto im mean the likes of jennings and gomez later on in cottos career arent very good, cottos best win was shane mosely a pot great was cottos best and hattons was tzyzu atg
No way either are all time greats. HOF :- i would say yes to both. Mainly on the amount of subpar fighters who have already been inducted.
im a big fan of both of these fighters, especially Hatton as im British, but they don't make the all-time greats list for me. they both lost the 2 most important fights in there career's. if the results were reversed, people may have started discussing them as potentially ATG's. HOFer's IMO
