Ahh... but all of that died out after Grant looked so awful against Golota. However, you just pointed out the doubled standard that I was trying to prove. Is the American media not hyping Arreola up to be the next big heavyweight threat? They clearly are. Why is it not Ok for Wlad to fight him then?:think

I don't hate Lewis at all. I just LOVE pointed out the double standard that people use. I honestly don't hate ANY boxer. I even like David Haye. However, I think that it's pathetic when people act like Wlad is ducking him.

you don't put the full side to the story though nobody apart from byrd and ruiz wanted a byr/ruiz vs lewis fight the grant or vitali fights where the ones tha people wanted at the time. Everyone would have given lewis **** for fighting byrd/ruiz as they were seen as easy fights for him.
In terms of arreola it is fine for wlad to fight him but when him and his borther have both said they would fight haye the only two people ahead of haye should be gomez and povetkin.

Many people were interested in seeing Lewis vs Byrd. Much better than watching Lewis vs nobody for an entire year... don't you think?

Also, even the Ruiz fight had some hype because of the sparring rumors that Ruiz dropped Lewis in sparring.

That just makes my argument stronger.

Who does beating Larry Donald, Vaughan Bean, Ross Purrity and Orlin Norris mean you DESERVE mandatory status in the WBC.

    It shouldn't. But it did.

The whole event was originally set up for Lewis and Tyson to fight on the same card, to build up interest in their signed agreement for a rematch.

Tyson pulled out, which is what got Vitlay in the door.

You must not have been a boxing fan for long yourself if you didn't know that.

Anyway, Vitlay got his undeserved shot, and lost anyway, so that's all water under the bridge.

I don't think the American media are hyping Arreola like Grant.

Many many critics were picking Grant to beat Lewis right up until the fight.

I bet there won't be many picking Arreola to beat Wlad.

    He isn't a boxing fan and never has been - he's a rabid Klit-ite and Oscar-sexual.

Yes, plenty of people were picking Grant to beat Lewis, they ended up looking silly but Grant was a huge guy at 6 foot 7 (I think) and people expected Lewis to struggle with a taller, younger opponent. Credit to Grant he came in swinging and fell on his shield, at least he gave it a try unlike most WALDO opponents.

Cue the next lecture on how shot Rahman and shot Mercer were actually great fighters but just had their gameplan taken away by WALDO :patsch

Well... I am not going to argue that Vitali had a strong resume because he didn't. However, he WAS the #1 contender, and mandatory to Lewis.

You aren't telling me anything that I don't know. Also, acting like a smart ass had no place because I was clearly proving Fighting Weight wrong. You weren't proving me wrong. Thanks though.:good

American media is doing the exact same thing with Arreola that they did with Grant. Also, I can't remember too many people actually picking Grant to win that fight. Especially anyone who actually knew what the hell they were talking about. Grant was NEVER very good.

At Cruiserweight. Yet, he didn't even beat the best fighters in that division... he just won the belts from the weakest belt holders. However, I agree... Haye proved himself at Cruiserweight and should get an IMMEDIATE shot at Adamek. Or the winner of the Adamek vs Cunningham possible rematch.

Lacy was a beast, and he deserved his hype. I still love the guy, and I feel awful that his shoulder injury ruined his career.

Mormeck was a very good fighter, but clearly past his prime. I followed Mormeck in his prime, and he was CLEARLY past it when he fought Haye. Still... he managed to drop him.

Don't get me wrong.. it was a VERY good win for Haye. Mormeck had the titles, but he was not the best fighter in the division anymore. Cunningham was a much bigger threat to Haye.
