Have you ever experienced any of those injuries? It is almost impossible to carry on with some of those injuries.
No if you had the pain before maybe if it was during the fight or after maybe but if before the fight you should have said ****
Right I’m on way home from knee surgery right now homie. Anyone talking smack about it’s all Mental has never had more than a hang nail
The answer to the original question is very fact-specific. An injury can certainly be a real excuse. I do believe, however, that sometimes boxers use an injury as an excuse when that injury had little to do with the loss. Pro athletes often play in pain, so to speak, so there is some ability to plausibly blame a loss on an injury.
I can agree in part but if they go on to have say shoulder surgery they ain't faking...I had shoulder tears that needed surgery & beleive the healing is as bad as the injury, no one would have that surgery for no valid reason....PAIN!!!
No, boxers should fight to the death for our enjoyment. No excuses. Be carried out on your shield. Ouch...I hurt my fingers typing this stuff...
I don't except an excuse if a guy knows of an injury before a fight, states that everything is great, loses and then claims he had a bad injury. To me, that reveals 1 of several things. He's arrogant and feels he can beat the guy with an injury, feels the opponent is easy or plain stupid.
Many fighters, especially older ones, have nagging injuries all the time. You’re going thru a 2-3 month training camp and you’re in a very violent sport, it’s going to happen. I usually don’t pay it much mind when a fighter blames it on an injury. I’m used to fighters making excuses when they lose or have a bad performance and usually don’t take them seriously. But sometimes freak injuries do happen.
I think it is fair to say that Cotto would have likely beaten Ali if he didn´t suffer that bicep injury. They had a pretty even fight until the 7th, when the injury happened. After that, Ali took over and won the close decision. But, it´s a fight, and things happen. Can´t really take anything away from Ali. Like, how many times have we seen the ref call for a break and then someone scores a knockdown or a knockout? Injuries are just another part of the sport.
