Don't remember who that was, but that thread was the first thing to come in mind when I read this one.
Surely dishing out a hiding and not dropping an opponent is better than losing a round and scoring a flash KD? I think it is, and scoring should reflect that :deal
Why are you still posting this when I and others already told you it was wrong and I specifically linked you to a source showing one of the two claimed sources for this article saying exactly the opposite? Why do you think that just because some random posts something on the internet, that makes them an authority?
http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum...Idiots.+Theres+no+such+thing+as+a+10-10+round Here you go man, the title says Antonio Tarver interview, but don't be fooled...this is THE legendary thread...:good
I like even rounds but there should be a limit to 2/3 per fight, if there are more you have to be razor critical.
i reckon you'd get more accurate scores if you scored more rounds even. when rounds are really close, you get judges choosing on a preference on style. and it means as much as someone dominating the next round but still coming away with just a point.
I agree with this. There's an inherent flaw in the theory that there always must be a descernable winner in a round and that is that it assumes two fighters who are each producing positive work. The problem arrises when you have rounds where essentially nothing of any positive value happens. Froch/Dirrell was a good example of this, there were several rounds where basically neither fighter did anything positive to deserve to win the round but the judges are forced to choose "well what did you like best there, Froch's holding and volume of missed punches or Dirrell's running away, falling over and occasional missed punches?" And then, like you said, the 'winner' of that round receives the same credit as sameone who outboxes their opponent the whole round.
Personally I always score even rounds if I believe they should be and had 2 in the Pascal-Hopkins fight on my original card, round 2 where bugger all happened and round 10 where I could barely separate them.
I always thought it was quite common to score the first round 10-10, but not the later rounds from 2nd on...:?
