After going the distance twice back to back vs mikey and porter in 2019 .. Spence is looking to fight pac , danny garcia or crawford. Are spences days of stopping his opponents gone?
When you get to top level and fight tough durable skilful opponents with better defence it’s much harder to get stoppages. I fully expect his KO percentage to go down drastically if he keeps on fighting top guys.
Porter is a g with a solid chin..Mikey stopped trying to be even competitive in that fight after 4 rounds, though strangely Spence did sleepwalk a bit himself. There are plenty of "keep busy" level of contenders for him to slaughter later.
An undefeated mutli division champion and a trench warfare guy known for toughness and durability. Neither men have really ever been close to being stopped. That's not a knock on Spence's power. He fights Danny, Pac or Crawford, it's very doubtful he'd be able to stop any of them either. (maybe Pac)
Name a current WW who's gonna stop Mikey or Porter. None? Yeah, that's what I thought. Spence'll get right back to stopping guys who aren't uber-tough (and/or stand in front of him) if and when he goes back to fighting them.
On Mikey, it's extremely hard, borderline impossible, to knock out a top operator who's only in their to survive. Spence dominated every round that's all you can ask of him. On Porter, he's tough as nails. No shame at all in not knocking him out. Welterweight has a lot of really good fighters. It should be more or less expected that Spence's knockout ratio goes down when he started playing king of the hill with the top guys
I like this post but the with the way he dominating in the Garcia fight, you might have thought he would have cracked the chin. Didn't he score a knockdown against Porter?
He did drop Porter late with a hook, he hurt both Mikey and Porter a few times as well. It's not that he doesn't have power, these are just high level durable guys.
