Are Liston & Foreman a swarmers biggest nightmare.?

They were basically anti swarmers. The telephone pole jabs, brute strength, uppercuts, killer instinct, range control, and solid chins are major deterrents for short armed guys who can only fight going forwards. Hoping that they gas out before your chin cracks is a fool's gamble.

I do think Dempsey vs Liston could be interesting because Dempsey had amazing hand speed and reflexes, but I wouldn't bet a single cent on that outcome. Dempsey, by his own admission, was hurt and dropped by various men who don't hit nearly as hard as Liston and was naturally like 187-191 lbs soaking weight even when he was eating 3 meals a day. sometimes he'd even weigh as low as 165 when working side jobs like the mining work in between fights. He hits hard and fast enough to hurt Liston, but the big question mark is if he could get to him before those heavy sledgehammer blows find their mark. Unlike Marciano and Frazier, Dempsey only had a moderately good gas tank and was not some sort of late round stamina machine (not that I think this would go to the later rounds, just saying).

I can't really think of any come forward short armed pressure fighters that I'd favor over Foreman or Liston. Even a larger modern guy like jarrel miller would just be a big target for them in my opinion since he's so heavy and fat and lacks the raw power to mix it up with them in a fire fight.

 

I reckon Tyson would be a pretty big nightmare for them

Joe Frazier.... not elite

 

the heavyweights are the LEAST skilled division outta all divisions , and frazier had 1 primary weapon (left hook ) he was not a top tier swarmer!

 

IMHO: Yes. In general, Sluggers are trouble for Swarmers.

 

It would certainly seem as though their style is effective against that sort of fighter.

 

I think without question they beat Roberto Duran. Is that was this thread is about?

 

I would say Bowe is perhaps a worse nightmare than either Liston or Foreman.
