If you're measuring based on race, then probably Donaire considering the history between Mexico and the Philippines.

    Mexicans can't make money?

According to this article, there are three non Irish Mexicans on the top 10 all time "Money Making" list:

    http://omgtoptens.com/entertainment/top-10-highest-earning-boxers-of-all-time/

Mexican fighters have the biggest fan base. That is the reason the biggest fights take place on Cinco de Mayo or Mexican Independence Day. If you are Mexican you automatically have a fan base. All you need to retain them is an explosive, agressive, and exciting style. Mexican fighters know this and that is the reason most of them fight the way they do. It's only a matter of time when a non Irish Mexican becomes a cash cow...

Hahahaha, Cantinflas will always crack me up.

It seems he invented the shoulder roll. However, I like the kick behind the back best.

I don't think that a good number of Mexicans are rooting for Rigondeaux because he is Latino but because these Mexicans are tired of the Paquiao fan base having their way with them for many years. When Rigondeaux fought Teon Kennedy I don't these Mexicans gave a damn.

As for the rest of the Latinos, I think it can go either way. Some Latinos have a rivalry against Mexicans that anyone who fights a Mexican they will side with. Others will keep supporting Latino fighters in general.

For me, I'm from Nicaragua and I'm rooting for a good fight from both. I'd like to see Rigondeaux prove that he belongs among the games best against one of the toughest fighters in boxing. I'd like to see him showcase his abilities in a big boxing event since he is still relatively unknown to the rest of the world. I'd like to see Nonito prove that he is among the game's elite and that he can take on a boxer and win. I'd like to see both fighters earn respect. :bbb

Considering most Donaire hate comments on FB are linked to Hispanic sounding names I would say Rigo, although that could change if he rides his 10 speed the whole fight.

Depends wich "Mexicans" you're talking about.

Mexicans / Mexican-Americans in the US? Well, they have to deal more with (or are at least exposed to) the annoying Filipino fan base (be it cuz they have Filipinos around or because of a common language -English-), and they also embrace more that "Latino" stuff (even thought they may also have rivalries with other nationalities than we Mexicans in Mexico don't).

Mexicans in Mexico (like myself)? There must be fans of both sides, but 99% of us don't care for neither of them. We would support Mares better.

I'm Mexican-American, and I'm going for Rigondeaux. He seems to have had a harder road to get to where he's at. I'm glad he's getting a nice payday for this fight. I hope he can beat Nonito.

    Bay Area boy here.

Can I root for somebody even though I have translucent skin and freckles?

If I made a whiny diatribe like this I'd be called a weak racist.

Slit your belly. You can no longer bear the shame...
