Same reason why our Rugby is weak here and our Voleyball is strong...... I mean, many people involved in Voleyball and not in Rugby....a great school of trainers in voleyball and not in Rugby.... I mean, the fact is that Boxing is not a popular sport, was somewhat popular when Maguila Rodrigues was fighting, and was popular many decades ago when Eder was active.....but that´s it. Popó was popular but I wouldn´t say the Sport was popular at his time.... Countries like Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia produced 30 or more world champions (true champions and belt holders I mean) and Brazil only produced 4 in whole history..... LAck of people involved, lack of good trainers and lack of popularity all these things mean lack of money and in a country with so many problems it´s always tougher.... Our amateur boxing is good nowadays, I hope the professional boxing someday becomes good enough like it is in other Latino Countries.....like our MMA is and like our Kickboxing/Muay Thai is too.....our Kickboxing (and Muay Thai too recently) is not great but is certainly a level above our boxing....
