Are most posters biased in favor of fighters from their country?

Most posters? . . . the truth is . . . some of these posters are not even real boxing fans . . . they are just fans of one fighter. :rofl

I'm American. My birth Certificate can prove that. I'm labeled MX-AM because my folks were born in MX.

Don't take me wrong I LOVE my MX culture. I love the traditions of my parents, some of which I have kept. But I'm an American trying to live the American dream who has never lived outside the U.S. nor plan too anytime soon.

I was educated in America and have made aliving and a family here too. MX has never given me anything.

I am Latino, Hispanic or whatever the proper terminology is.

 

On the lighter side... mexican women are one of the best and most beautiful women in the PLANET! PEACE! :thumbsup

I'm probably the best boxer here. So yes, I guess you could say I'm biased towards myself. But you are all arrogant ****s too :twisted:

 

I admit I root for Florida fighters in almost every case especially the one's from my immediate area but I've rooted against plenty of Americans. Some of the fighters I can't stand are Americans. My allegiance when it rears it's head is more regional than national.

I've got too many favorites over the years from Mexico, Australia, Ukraine, Brazil, Bahamas, Africa etc. to ever be purely nationalistic.

But some of the blind nationalism has turned me against some fighters that I watched coming up and then had to listen to their fans blatant nationalism. I used to really like Calzaghe but his fans just grate me sometimes. I like the Klitschkos too but there are times I want to strangle some of their fans.

 

i have to stop reading threads for a few days leading up to some of these calzaghe v whoever or fill in the name v whoever threads in the lead up to big fights knowing there will be so much drivel and jingoism and immature posting going on without any arguement to back up there case.

never used to be so bad as it has become in the last 2 years.

 

I don't, I root for whomever I find more enjoyable to watch. That said though I deplore nationalism.

 

Yeah, there's something about the Calzaghe phenomena. I think I counted 23 threads on this site about him. I knew it was getting ridiculous when I go into the classic for a nice walk down memory lane and there's three frigging posts in the top ten about him arguing "Joe vs. Robinson, Is Joe top ten ATG, Joe would beat so and so....


And to think I used to have to dig into the British section to get anything on him. Eh, in spite of some harsh tone in some of my posts I still like him but it ain't easy.

I'm biased in favor of Cotto, Juanma and Ivan Calderon.
I do think that Cotto is one of the best welters in the division
I do think Juanma is gonna clean the 122 division (Vazquez, Marquez, Molitor, Caballero) all by KO
i do think Ivan Calderon is a top 10 P4P boxer and that he is gonna win against the dangerous Cazares

 

Got you. I have yet to conversate with Mexican American. Here in the NorthEast, there are Mexicans, but the ones I meet are first generations coming in. It would be an interesting topic due to the titles of Chicano and Tejano. Like I said, I was born and raised in the USA, but I am Puerto Rican and any other nationality that sees me or listens when I speak Spanish will always see me as Hispanic or Latino. This adding American to African, Mexican, etc are all titles too.

 

True, but joining ESB is a move in the right direction. They can be educated by other posters on other fighters which will in turn give the opportunty to the fans of one fighter to watch other fighters. One poster the other day disrespected many other posters by saying we are not here to educate others that don't have much knowledge on boxing, that's bull****. Why not? I would not be surprised on these so called experts/posters on boxing read up or visit boxrec.com just prior to posting. Knowledge and having fun is what I get. I'm sure others do too.
