This has never, EVER been the case. This wasn't the case back when live gates where the only revenue stream, it wasn't the case when the USA channel was showing fights, it wasn't the case 10 years ago, and it isn't the case now. Boxing has always been about the money, first and foremost. If you believe any differently, you also believe in Santa, the tooth fairy, and that you are going to be getting money from that Nigerian prince.

for fans BOXING is number ONE

what do we get out of our favorite fighters making money?

nothing, we only get our enjoyment when they fight, not when they buy a ferrari.

    lol, *****'s do....
i know d00d. **** the money... why does that concern me as a fan? I just want those two ****ers figure **** out fast so i can see them make magic on that boobtube. i dont care who's getting what - thats what the promoters and managers get paid to worry about. As long as a fighter is happy with his FAIR share, im happy.

I aint watching a fighter cuz he generates so much money. Im watching him cuz he kicks ass in his own way...

they should make an offshoot to boxing. like NBA fantasy match ups where numbers are god. in this case, fans of the business side of boxing can play around with the numbers if they do really take this much interest in it. they can afford not to actually watch the fights and just deal with the numbers.

as a boxing fan, you don't care all those crap about boxing being a business, saying something like "boxing is a business, and always been about the money" is just plain stupid. unless you're a fat ass greedy promoter making a living on the boxing scene.

I was actually referring to the last four fights:

May vs. Marquez - 1 million
May vs. Mosley - 1.4 million

Pac vs. Cotto - 1.25 million
    Pac vs. Clottey - 700K

And if you consider that the Pac/Clottey fight did not have a 24/7, promoted only for a short time involving a fight between two non-americans (one is practically unknown). A 50/50 scenario can be favorably argued in favor of Pac.

"but floyd is still the ppv king!.. but money is.. blah blah blah"

some people here just don't wanna see the fight happening.
first they'd become chemist and ped scholars, and NOW they are math junkies!!

The only reason floyd has more ppvs is because he fought oscar in his prime when he was on top. I've said it a few times and I'll say it again if floyd is such a ppv draw if he fought joshua clottey you think he would do 700k ppv buys, I doubt it. I love how people compare different opponents and say see he makes more money, if it was manny fighting shane mosley he would have at least done 1.4 mil ppv maybe more. So get the **** out of here with that floyd deserves more than a 50/50 split.

I don't like your example but your right...

the point is floyd will be more than 50% of the reason the fight makes ____ million dollars..... he would probably be between 55%-60%

I think Bob Denver (Gilligan) made at least as much money as Alan Hale Jr. (Skipper)
