That's a very bold statement on Pavlik v Calzaghe! I thought of that fight as a 50/50 before last night, but now I have to say Calzaghe would beat Kelly. Pavlik just didn't look like he was comfortable fighting at 170lbs, and there's no way Calzaghe will make 160lbs, therefore I cannot see it happening. Pavlik can physically weigh 170lbs on fight night no problem, but just like Morales couldn't handle 135 v Raheem and Hatton couldn't handle 147 v Collazo, Pavlik couldn't handle 170. Calzaghe handled Kessler brilliantly, and I think Kessler as a natural 168lbs fighter was a lot stronger than Kelly would be at 170. I can't see anything but a Calzaghe UD, maybe not as wide as last night but still a clear win.

But anyway, this thread is about B-Hop...

he is an A-T-G! :happy :happy :happy

Most respect him and want to love him but his words and actions turn many fans off.

Hopkins has been an ATG for a while, this was a massive achievement though. I had Calzaghe edging Hopkins 114-113, so he's still my #3 P4P with Hopkins at #4.

No disrespect to Calzaghe because he is a wonderful fighter, but I hope every day that he will lose to Jones and the rematch 16 years in the making will at last come.

Calzaghe OWNS Hopkins in the Ring, and on any lists, for All Time. Get used to it.

pleased you can give hopkins props but calzaghe's win over hopkins was opportunistic and you know it.

i'm going to keep saying it until you listen...

The Ring did a Top 80 Fighters of the Past 80 Years a while back. Next time they do a list like that, I GUARANTEE you that Hopkins will be higher on it than Calzaghe. And I will make any wager you like on that.

Calzaghe may have sneaked a controversial decision v B-Hop, but when you look at their overall careers, resumes, achievements and performances, there is only one answer...

Former world pound-for-pound number 1 Bernard Hopkins.

Get used to that, because that will be the case forever. :good

I always maintained that he was a very good fighter and certainly not shot the way people were making out...

Hopkins deserves huge credit for this, excellent win indeed, he truely is an ATG, a legend.

However, I do warn you PACFAN, to expect the win to be attacked a few weeks from now on the grounds that Pavlik was fighting out of his natural weight class or some nonsense along those lines!

It will indeed, as is the nature of boxing fans, even though Pavlik beat Jermain Taylor at only 4lbs lighter.

However, for me and I hope for all sane fans, this win falls into the same category as Mayweather v Corrales, Pacquiao v Barrera I, Morales v Pacquiao I, Hopkins v Trinidad, Jones v Ruiz, Calzaghe v Kessler, Mosley v De La Hoya I...

...a 21st century masterclass that is beyond reproach. Two quality fighters, one clear and convincing winner.
