I didn't score a round for Pavlik, personally.

ALL things considered it might be the best perfocmance since Jones-Toney. ALL THINGS considered.

    I had it 119-108.

All things considered, it may just be. I think Hopkins's win over Trinidad was better, but that doesn't take into consideration Hopkins's age.

The only win I can think of that compares is Toney v Jirov, but that was not a masterclass like Hop-Pavlik, it was much closer.

    It may just be.

Winky's shutout of Trinidad may also be more impressive - but here we have to take into account the fact that Hopkins is 43 and Pavlik is a peaked champion who's spot on the pound for pound list was cemented. And he got hammered.

I'm still a bit shellshocked at just how damn good Bernard was. I was really living in fear in the lead-up to this fight. I'm such a moron I was actually scared I'd have to watch B get stopped late when he got tired. **** me! B-Hop is King!

McGrain I'd like to read your opinion on my thread asking the opinion of all Classic posters on the Classic Forum. I need to knock off shortly but if you get a chance within the next 24hrs give it a look mate, cheers :good

Credit to Hopkins - a superb win - and an enjoyable fight to boot.

Personally, I think when taking into account the level of the fighter, where both fighters were at in their careers, and the performance, the two best wins since Jones-Toney are Hopkins-Pavlik and Hopkins-Trinidad, with Pacquiao-Barrera I, Wright-Trinidad, Jones-Ruiz, and Hopkins-Tarver coming next.

I consider myself to be objective, but I will admit that I am a little bias when it comes to Hopkins, so maybe it's just me, but nothing since Jones-Toney has impressed me more than Hopkins' performances against Pavlik and Trinidad.

    I like your list, although I think I prefer Wright-Trinidad to Hopkins-Trinidad.

I've seen the fight twice and I can't believe my eyes. I think I need to see it a couple more times to be sure. Watching it again will be fun.

    Wright-Trinidad
    Jones-Ruiz
    Mosley-De La Hoya I

    Calzaghe-Kessler or Hopkins-Tarver?

Would you guys (McGrain and Cobra) agree with that?

Winky very well could have been more dominant, but watching Trinidad against hopkins, he looks very good. His easy destructions of Joppy and Cherifi, two top 10 guys at the weight at the time, were highly impressive, and he looked good all-around against Hopkins even though he was being outclassed.

Against Winky, Tito looked flat from the begining.

Hopkins also showed more to his game against Trinidad IMO, moving, in-fighting, long-range boxing, etc. Where as Winky was generally all jab and blocking defense to shut Tito down. I of course love the finishing touches of Hopkins as well, to be so perfect technically that late in such a big fight when he blocked the left hook and brought the right hand across was brilliant to watch.

    One of my favourites too.

And, like you, I believe Calzaghe's win must now be upgraded from good to great.

And, like you, I don't expect that to happen on this forun anytime soon.

There's still some out there who think Pavlik should be getting the chance Jones is getting next month.
